[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1855709] Re: [nvidia] Activities search menu won't show any icon
Finally! The issue was definitely in the graphic driver. I purged the nvidia-440 (which, by the way, was the suggested open source driver) and the issue was gone using the standard Nouveau driver. I reinstalled the nvidia driver from terminal, and the funny thing is I wrote nvidia- driver-435* but it installed nvidia-driver-440. The important thing is that now the issue is gone and here is the output (or part of it) of journalctl -b0: rlb@rlb-GA-970A-D3:~$ journalctl -b0 -- Logs begin at Wed 2018-06-13 11:35:32 CEST, end at Thu 2019-12-12 10:42:44 CE dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: Linux version 5.3.0-24-generic (buildd@lg dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-5. dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: KERNEL supported cpus: dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: Intel GenuineIntel dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: AMD AuthenticAMD dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: Hygon HygonGenuine dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: Centaur CentaurHauls dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: zhaoxin Shanghai dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: random: get_random_u32 called from bsp_in dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x001: dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x002: dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: x86/fpu: Supporting XSAVE feature 0x004: dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: x86/fpu: xstate_offset[2]: 576, xstate_s dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: x86/fpu: Enabled xstate features 0x7, con dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-provided physical RAM map: dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0x-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0x0009f800-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0x000f-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0x0010-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0xcfda-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0xcfdd1000-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0xcfe0-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0xe000-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0xfec0-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: BIOS-e820: [mem 0x0001-0x dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: NX (Execute Disable) protection: active dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: SMBIOS 2.4 present. dic 12 10:38:27 rlb-GA-970A-D3 kernel: DMI: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
