I got the same bug, at ubuntu 12.04 full upgraded.
:~$ dpkg -s gnome-panel | grep Version
Version: 1:3.3.3-0ubuntu2

I do not know if this is relative:
I use nvidia development driver_4.1. Each time I upgrade kernel I have to 
reinstall them manually. The last time I upgrade kernel (3.2.0-12) at restart 
it didn't show me the classic message ubuntu run at low graphic. So I didn't 
reinstall them.
Gnome 3 entered to classic gnome, so I logout and entered unity. It was not 
reacting well and this bug appeared. 
Now, I have reinstall the driver and all are fine.

5. select ports from catalogue, and crash..

Same for me. I upgrade the system (from the last upgrade I cannot enter
Gnome, it enter to Gnome classic)
