I noticed that touch in firefox was no longer working after upgrade to

  I have "MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1" configured in `~/.pam_environment` as
  described at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/firefox#Wayland and
  https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Environment_variables#Graphical_environment.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1946599]

2021-10-13 Thread Ryanvm
I think we should take it unless there's a strong reason I'm missing.
It's been baking for a couple months now, we're early in the ESR91
lifespan, and I won't be surprised if we eventually need to backport
other patches that depend on it.

Title:
[upstream] Firefox 85 hangs at startup

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Today I have received a security upgrade for kubuntu 20.04 including
firefox 85. Unfortunately, this version of firefox appears to hang at
start unless it is started passing an url. Namely:

  firefox

  hangs, while

  firefox lwn.net

  does not hang.

I have quickly tried working with a clean profile and firefox 85 seems
to start fine with that. Yet, the profile is not broken: if I
downgrade to firefox 84 and restore my profile from a backup, then
  firefox 84 works just fine.

So the issue seems to be that firefox 85 has issues in working with
profiles that are totally fine with firefox 84. This breaks migration
from firefox 84 to firefox 85.

  Issue is totally reproducible:

  downgrade to firefox 84
restore profile from firefox 84 from backup
  work with firefox 84 (OK)
  upgrade to firefox 85
try to work with firefox 85 (KO)

Please consider that having to reset a profile is a form of data loss.
In a modern browser, the profile includes extensions, passwords, data
  from web apps and more.

Because this bug makes it impossible to apply a security update
(firefox 85 is marked as such and shipped via the security channel),
  this bug is particularly serious.

  Firefox 83 Breaks WebGL

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
Upon upgrading from Firefox 82 to to Firefox 83, WebGL stops working.
  Ubuntu 20.10 with Wayland.

When I try to launch a webGL game:
Failed to create WebGL context: failIfMajorPerformanceCaveat: Compositor is
not hardware-accelerated.

  Specifically Pixi says:
Error: WebGL unsupported in this browser, use "pixi.js-legacy" for fallback
canvas2d support.

Downgrading to Firefox 82 works. Not sure if this is an Ubuntu build
issue or Firefox, so I also filed upstream as well:
  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1678652

I need this functionality for work, and pinning to version 82 will be
  problematic in the long-term.

I see 100/100 with Fx50 and a clean profile. On Nightly, the only

strongly suspect an addon interfering or something.

Title:
Firefox fails to properly render http://acid3.acidtests.org/

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

It is important for the future of the web that Firefox handles the following
page perfectly before 3.0 is released:
  http://acid3.acidtests.org/
The correct rendering of this page is shown here:
  http://acid3.acidtests.org/reference.

It is through universal and strict web standards compliance that
gecko, webkit, and opera will evict Internet Explorer from its much
abused position of dominant market share. The less quirks a browser
engine has to be able to handle, the smaller and cleaner its code base
  can be.

Passing ACID3 would be a fine milestone for this major release.

Title:
Firefox hangs after simultaneously opening Chrome/Electron-based
  applications

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When opening Chrome/Electron-based applications while Firefox is open,
Firefox' tab contents stop responding, and it becomes necessary to close
Firefox and reopen it.
  This includes:
  - VSCode: https://code.visualstudio.com/download
  - Atom: https://atom.io
  - Chromium browser

Here's a link to a screenshot that shows Firefox with a "loading"
waiting icon on the center of the tab (applies to any other open tab)

  https://imgur.com/PHHr3zt.png

This has been happening since Ubuntu 14.04, but my previous report was
quickly dismissed.
I've done fresh installs for 14.04, 16.04 and 18.04, and the problem persists
ever since.

  OS: Ubuntu
Release: 18.04 LTS (other 18.04-based distros such as elementaryOS exhibit
the same behavior)

Firefox: 74.0.1, 64-bit (although the problem happens since 32-bit
  60.x or even earlier)

Current Hardware: Lenovo ThinkPad T410s: Intel i5 540M processor,
  NVidia NVS3100M graphics, 8Gb RAM, 480Gb SSD

  # Expected behavior
While Firefox is open, any Chrome/Electron-based application that is opened
works without affecting Firefox, either loaded before or after it.

  # Observed behavior
While Firefox is open, any Chrome/Electron-based application that is opened
hangs Firefox, as observed according to the screenshot link provided above.

Note that if Firefox is loaded *after* Chrome/Electron-based apps, the
  above described behavior isn't exhibited.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
As of Firefox version 36, the -remote commandline parameter was dropped.
This parameter is used in versions of exo prior to 0.10.3. Because of this,
opening any URLs via exo-open will cause a new firefox window to launch at the
home screen.

As reported, this affects the terminal, ubuntu-bug, xchat, and
  numerous other applications.

  [Test Case]
  1. Set Firefox as the default web browser in Preferred Applications.
  2. From a terminal, type the following:

  exo-open http://www.xfce.org;

  Expected: Firefox opens at http://www.xfce.org
Actual: Firefox opens at the home page.

  [Regression Potential]
No regressions by this change. This fixes the application call to correctly
open URLs.

  [Original Report]
When I click a link from an email it does not work any more.

Instead of opening the link in a new tab, Firefox opens a new empty
window and does not follow the link.

If I change the default browser for my desktop from Firefox to Chrome,
then Chrome can open the link fine.

I have started seeing this today since firefox was upgraded from v35
  to 36.

My email client is Mozilla thunderbird at the latest stable version.

Title:
Firefox crashes in flag_qsort during spellchecker initialization on
  x86 due to gcc bug

Status in The Mozilla Firefox Browser:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in gcc-4.8 package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
The most common Firefox crash on Linux in Mozilla's crash-stats system
is crashes in the function flag_qsort.

  These crashes occur:
   * only on x86 architecture
   * only on Ubuntu packages (and not on Mozilla's builds)
   * on precise and saucy and trusty (based on kernel versions reported with
the crashes)
and appear to be due to a compiler bug in the compiler used to generate
Ubuntu's builds. (It could be a common compiler bug triggered by different
compiler options or a compiler bug specific to Ubuntu's gcc.)

The analysis that leads to the conclusion that this is a compiler bug
  is in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=983817 . In
particular, the compiler is miscompiling an access to an element of an
array of unsigned short as a 32-bit read, and when the unsigned short
in question is the last one in the allocation and that allocation is
aligned so that the byte following has a different 0x10 bit, this

   * only on x86 architecture

In
particular, the compiler is miscompiling an access to an element of an
array of unsigned short as a 32-bit read, and when the unsigned short
in question is the last one in the allocation and that allocation is
aligned so that the byte following has a different 0x10 bit, this
  can lead to crashes.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1398898]

2014-12-10 Thread Ryanvm
(In reply to Benjamin Kerensa [:bkerensa] from comment #37)
It does but we do not build an ESR for android the channels we do build for
 android will get this patch.

We are shipping Armv6 builds off esr31, FWIW (since support for them was
dropped on the mainline branches). Not sure if they'd be affected by
this bug, but FYI for any future approval requests you may come across.

@Liz - FWIW, I was holding off on setting firefox30 to fixed until this
merged to release, since that's where any new Fx30 builds are going to
ship from at this point.

spooled files are very small, and contain showpage directives with no
page content, i.e., blank pages come out of the printer). Users can
download the file from the down-arrow menu and print using a
  standalone viewer with no issue.

Title:
Can't delete a folder if Trash already contains a folder of the same
  name

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:
  In Progress
Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

  1. Create a new folder, eg. Temp
  2. Delete it, OK
  3. Create the same folder again
  4. Delete it, OK

I expect it to be moved to my Trash folder, perhaps with a suffix
appended (it being the second instance of that folder in the trash).

Thunderbird popped up an error message. On an imap host:
The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Mailbox
already exists.
  In the local folders:
A folder with that name already exists. Please enter a different name (!)

  Workarounds:
  1. Empty the trash
  2. Rename the folder before deletion
  3. Rename the folder already in the trash
  4. Delete (permanently) the folder that is already in the trash

Title:
Thunderbird corrupts Mailbox when hd is full

Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:
  Fix Released
Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu:
  Triaged

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I fetched the POP3 EMails and the last Message got cut in the middle.
Other than in Bug #23302 there was NO warning about little space. Then
I got a warning after the error the little space and freed some space
  up.

Now it fetched all allready fetched mails again and added some junk
from another email into the unfinished email.

In the end this is not so severe, but the check for little space
should kick in before and it should not get to corruption of email
  data.

Seen in ubuntu 8.04.1 with thunderbird 2.0.0.16.

  Firefox don't save print settings

Status in The Mozilla Firefox Browser:
  New
Status in Mozilla Thunderbird Mail and News:

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:

  Environment:
  OS: Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala)
  Package: firefox-3.5 (3.5.8+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.9.10.1)
  Problem:
I print from firefox and change print settings, like select destination
printer, margins, header, footer and so on. In about:config option
'print.save_print_settings' is set to true. Finally do print.
Immediately after previous print I do print again and I suspect to get same
settings (destination printer, margins, header, footer ...) that I set for last
print, but unfortunately I get default print settings (destination printer,
margins, header, footer ...).
All this is happen in same browser session.
Problem also reflect on our extension that we developed for Firefox
(jsPrintSetup https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8966).
The extension using nsIPrintSettings interface to manage print settings also
encounter problem with select destination printer.
Independently from selected nsIPrintSettings.printerName Firefox always print
to default for operating system printer.

Bug description:
Bug first appeared last week after updating to Firefox 10 using
Synaptic. Original symptom was crashing Firefox when navigating a site
I'm developing (which logs a lot to console in development
environment). Further discovery indicated that I could crash Firefox
by clicking on the DOM tab in Firebug. At that point, I re-installed
Firefox, created a new profile, re-installed Firebug and could still
reproduce the crash. I created a new user on my system, repeated the
prior steps, same result. After some searching, I found these
  discussions:

http://groups.google.com/group/firebug/browse_thread/thread/bfb5a8b038ef2328/65171984c28775a1?show_docid=65171984c28775a1#

  https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=725619

At which point, I tried simply opening the Web Console and typing
print, which would crash the browser before finishing typing the
command, even with a clean install and no plug-ins.

slightly lighter grey, but too light to be able to read. This is
regression, the previous theme was perfect, please repair.

  Thanks

Bug description:
Firefox 11 has the ability to load proxy settings from gconf. However,
it generates a dbus roundtrip to dconf with every HTTP request,
because we call g_settings_new each time. I've submitted a patch
upstream for this, and this bug is just to remind me that we need to
backport it to the beta so that we don't ship the release like this
