[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

2019-12-14 Thread Sam Colegrove
This problem has been fixed for some time now and I no longer get a
white screen at the start of a video. I currently have LibreOffice
6.4.3.2 and it works GREAT. Thanks for all the improvements that have
been made.

LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
The following bugs are for LibreOffice 6.2.2.2 Impress on Kubuntu
  19.04.

When I start a slide-show with Impress by using either F5 or Shift F5,
I get a white screen. When I click on it, the slide is displayed.
When I exit the presentation with say "Esc", soffice.bin is in the
taskbar with the odp file used for the presentation. If I click on
the odp file and exit, both tasks are removed.

Now when I advance to an embedded video I get the image shown with
this report. When the video is started, the previous slide is shown on
top of the video as it is being played. Not a good view This
happens when either starting from the first slide or the one preceding
  embedded video.

I have tried the gtk3 options in https://launchpad.net/bugs/1820062
and the changes make no difference to this problem. I have also
installed gstreamer1.0-plugins-* which solved previous problem with
  LibreOffice.

shown on top of the video as it is played. Not a good view This
happens on Kubuntu 19.04 and I have added all the packages suggested in

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

2019-03-30 Thread Sam Colegrove
Disco's release is the 18 April and the next version, 6.2.3, of
LibreOffice is 15-21 April.

Currently no one has been assigned to solve this problem and when this
happens, I hope that person can "Pull a Rabbit out of a Hat" and quickly
solve the problem.

In the meantime, I have LibreOffice 6.1.4.2 locked-in on this version of
Disco and working to my satisfaction.

Given the short time to Disco's release, please consider going back to
LibreOffice 6.1.4.2, so that no one has "egg on their face" on the
release date.

Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

2019-04-02 Thread Sam Colegrove
Hi Olivier,

I should firstly point out  that my problems are on Kubuntu 19.04.  I
downloaded the file and extracted it in my home directory into the file
LibreOffice_6.2.2.2_Linux_x86-64_deb.  I purged my current version of
LibreOffice and installed this new version.  The version information is
attached.

It still gave the same problem that I reported on.  When I launch the
odp file I get a blank black screen with white slider strips on the
right edge and bottom edge.  Clicking on the black screen shows the
slide which can be used to start a display slide-show. However, when
advancing to the embedded video, a reduced size previous slide is
overlaid on the video.  If I connect an external monitor, both screens
have the same display with the video taking full screen and overlaid
with the previous slide.

If I am in the LibreOffice Impress edit mode and I click on the slide
with the video, the display goes to full screen and no edit option is
possible.

I hope the above information helps you find some way to reproduce the
problems I am experiencing.

Regards,

Sam

2019-04-03 Thread Sam Colegrove
Hi Olivier,

I have just tested with videos which are coded in webm and wmv formats
and they all show similar characteristics to my original video which was
mp4.  I will see what I can do about using the site
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice&format=guided.

BTW, have you managed to replicate the problems that I have experienced
with Disco?

Cheers

Hi Olivier,

In all your replies you have not stated the distribution you used for
testing.  On the launchpad site it is stated that others have
encountered this problem.  Did you do it on Disco?

2019-04-05 Thread Sam Colegrove
That is indeed interesting that Ubuntu 19.04 does not have this
problem.  I have just install the latest build of Kubuntu 19.04 into
another partition of my HP Spectre x360 15-ch004ng which has a 1TB SSD.
I tested the video after all the latest LibreOffice updates and it still
gave the same problems that I reported. Basically, when a video is
started the display goes full screen and is a mess.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1821849] Re: LibreOffice Impress 6.2.2.2 Embedded Video Problem

2019-04-11 Thread Sam Colegrove
It is now one week since you realized that the bug is with Kubuntu 19.04
and NOT with Ubuntu 19.04. I assume that by now you have a VM with
Kubuntu 19.04 and tested the impact of an embedded video. Since I have
not heard from you, I expect that you have found the bug that caused me
to start this report.

Since no one has been assigned to solve this bug and its importance is
Undecided, could you please let me know if this bug will be dealt with
by launchpad or is there anywhere else I should head for this bug to be
fixed?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1967976] [NEW] Impress Video plays once and second time no video but sound

2022-04-05 Thread Sam Colegrove
Public bug reported:

LibreOffice Impress version 7.3.2.2, when I do a presentation with
slides and mp4 videos, it plays the first video correctly once and
thereafter on any video, there is only sound and no image displayed!

I am on Kubuntu 22.04 and this problem has existed since Version
7.2.5.2. I have two Laptops with LibreOffice and one has Version
7.2.5.2 locked in as this is my main Laptop for presentations and this
version works perfectly with no problem. My other Laptop is my
sacrificial Laptop which has version 7.3.2.2.

In the attached video I used Kazam to record both monitors. The
presentation screen is the right half.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1789029] Re: Impress embedded video takes full screen

-video-playback-only-as-full-screen/

To me it looks like it is related to one of the gstreamer1.0-plugins-*
not being included in the packages for LibreOffice 6.1.3.2. I have not
tried to locate the missing packages and I hope someone in this site can
locate the packages.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1789029] Re: Impress embedded video takes full screen

2018-12-13 Thread Sam Colegrove
I have version 6.1.3.2 and on both Cosmic and Disco distributions, a
Presentation with an Inserted video ignores video page size of the
projection Screen. For example, a 16:9 video is displayed in 4:3 on the
projection screen,ie full screen. Also, the contolling screen for
advancing the presentation is similarly overwritten by the video image.
Even when a 4:3 video image is shown it totally occupies the 16:9
contolling screen.

This makes LibreOffice totally unusable on Cosmic and Disco if a video
is to be projected during a presentation. On Bionic (LO 6.0.7.3) I do
not have this problem at all - thank goodness!!!

I consider the IMPORTANCE of this problem as SERIOUS
