[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1934648] [NEW] [Vostro 15-3568, Realtek ALC3246, Speaker, Internal] Underruns, dropouts or crackling sound

2021-07-05 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

Right speaker crackles while left speaker is intact.

Tried many quirks including those posted here ->
https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2464361
(That OP is me only).

I also tried to position quirk as mentioned in troubleshooting guide --
didn't work.

I am yet to try to use a live boot and see if problem is hardware or
not.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1061195] Re: Can't create EWS or MAPI account

2014-08-11 Thread Sayantan Das
Figured out a way to do it.
Make sure to remove all attempts made before as explained in#35.
Add the exchange account using EWS. Then click Finish.
Do NOT, make any additional settings changes. It should work . Tested with two
different MS Exchange accounts.

Can't create EWS or MAPI account

Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Evolution appears unable to create an EW or MAPI account. All the
steps proceed normally, including fetching the URL (for EWS) or
authenticating (for MAPI). However, at the conclusion of account
creation process, no actual account appears in the list.

I've tried starting Evolution from the command line using various
DEBUG_ variables and there are no EWS- or MAPI-specific errors. So I'm
not exactly sure what to do next.

I am fairly certain the problem doesn't lie with my corporate Exchange
server, as web mail works fine and any other EWS-capable client (like
  the mail app in Android).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1281009] [NEW] add out of the box file sharing support (samba) for Ubuntu with GUI

2014-02-17 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

File sharing between Ubuntu and Windows PCs is a bit of a struggle. One
cannot get it up and running without searching online for a solution.
Also there is always a bit of commandline involved in the process.

It would be better, if the required GUI and the dependencies are
installed by default for Ubuntu . Even if the dependencies are not
involved, during setup of file share, the system should prompt for the
required dependencies which can be installed from the Ubuntu Software
Center.

installed kernel 3.12.5, nvidia-331, nvidia-prime on my Ubuntu 13.10

  SRU request:

  Please accept gnome-desktop3 (3.4.2-0ubuntu0.2) in precise-proposed
  and gnome-desktop3 (3.8.4-0ubuntu1.1) in saucy-proposed.

  [Impact]
In Precise and Saucy, we support hybrid graphics, and this issue prevents
users from enabling external screens (the ones connected to the Intel card),
and to benefit from all the features that the gnome-settings-daemon provides
(font settings, input settings, theming, etc.).

  [Test Case]
After installing the update, users should be able to open the Displays
configuration tool, and the gnome-settings-daemon will be running (as shown by
the "ps aux | grep gnome-settings-daemon" command).

  [Regression Potential]
None. We simply trap and ignore an error when setting the primary output, as
the rest of the program already does when getting the primary output.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1159021] [NEW] Wireless authentication fails on wake in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-03-22 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

I have upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 13.04 beta x64. Now, I can see that
whenever I put the computer to sleep by closing the lid, the laptop fails to
connect to the previously connected wifi network on waking up.
I have to do a complete restart for the authentication to work.

Using the hardware switch to turn off/on the wireless or restarting
wireless services do not seem to have any effect.

The laptop is a Dell Vostro 3300. Details of the wireless card

lspci | grep Broadcom

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 959332] Re: Allow "Show in groups" option in Nautilus

2012-03-21 Thread Sayantan Das
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 44563 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/44563

@roignac: How is this bug a duplicate of #44563? That bug is for auto-arranging
desktop icons.
The linked bug for show in groups reported in bugzilla is 10 years old and i
really dont think those guys will look at it.
I think this should be pushed as a request to the gnome devs again instead of
marking it as duplicate

Allow "Show in groups" option in Nautilus

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I would request the developers over at Canonical to add a patch to allow
"Show in Groups" option for Nautilus file manager.
It becomes easier to find files in groups when there are thousands of files
in a folder. This happens especially in Music folder or the downloads folder.
Dolphin file manager has this option . Please see the links below for the
screenshots.

Windows file explorer also has the feature.

It would be great if you guys could implement something similar in
  12.04.

Attached is the screenshot for windows file maanager with "Show in
  Groups" enabled.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 932017] [NEW] ubuntu's default calendar application is text editor?

2012-02-14 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

Ever since Evolution was removed and Thunderbird put in as the default mail
client, there is no inbuilt calendar application that can be used. Also,
thunderbird does not ship with lightning addon by default.
As seen in the latest precise pangolin build of 13 February, the default
calendar application is still set to Text Editor(gedit). Please see screenshot
attached.
That does not make any sense. It also shows a glaring gap in design and
experience . If Ubuntu really needs to compete in user experience, I believe
these small glitches need to be resolved in a LTS release like 12.04.
I believe it will be good to either include lighning with Thunderbird or add
another calendar application as default.

hitting refresh (F5 ) or by selecting "organize desktop by name" from the right

I think this is a bug as we should not need to refresh . Ubuntu should
automatically do it during logon.

Title:
icons and folders are not organised on the Desktop on logon in Ubuntu
  11.10

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
I am using Ubuntu 11.10, x64 bit. When I login, the icons, folders and files
on the Desktop are all jumbled up , sit on top of each other and there is no
uniformity . The desktop looks like a mess. This however, is easily fixed by
hitting refresh (F5 ) or by selecting "organize desktop by name" from the right
click options.
I think this is a bug as we should not need to refresh . Ubuntu should
automatically do it during logon.

Please see the attached screenshot for more clarity. The issue is visible in
the highlighted areas.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 907739] [NEW] empathy cannot call to android phones

2011-12-22 Thread Sayantan Das
Public bug reported:

1. I was trying to call to android phone ( Galaxy S II, Gingerbread
2.3.4 with video call enabled) . However, there are no options to call
the person. Only initiating chat options are available.

2. Calling from the phone to empathy, the call does not connect
immediately when I click 'accept with video call' option. There is a
delay of atlest 30 secs

3. The symbol on the phone does not show a video device is available.

Compared to Empathy, Pidgin is able to complete the call and I can hear
the voice and see video on the computer immediately. The symbol on the
phone also indicates a video device is available for a video call.

vpn.

Thanks

Title:
empathy does not connect when cisco vpn is on

Status in “empathy” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
Hi, I am on Ubuntu 10.10 amd64 and I connect to my office network using cisco
vpn (vpnc). Once the vpn is connected, I add an automatic configuration script
to the network proxy and apply it system wide. This allows all the browsers and
evolution mail client to connect to the internet but empathy does not connect
to any chat account.
I am able to connect to all chat accounts from web messengers like meebo and
trillian.
My request would be to add a network preference section in empathy to allow
adding automatic configuration scripts.

  Thanks

PS: I think even Gwibber does not connect to the internet when vpnc is
  connected.
