[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1507003] [NEW] Too fast "housekeeping" prevents harddrive from sleeping
Public bug reported: udisks2 has a function called housekeeping where regular stuff is done. In example refreshing SMART data from attached drives. Currently it has a timeout of ten minutes. The old udisks(1) was more relax and waited thirty minutes. Therefore I have to let my drives sleep after ten minutes at maximum before SMART data is fetched. Usually this is a bit fast. I´m unsure whether desktop drives like these tight cycles as laptop devices do. If anybody thinks like me, patching is easy. Have a look at "udiskslinuxprovider.c" in the src folder. Around line 470 is the "housekeeping timeout" set to 10*60 seconds. Reset to a value you like and recompile the package. I guess it won´t harm, if you update SMART every thirty minutes instead of ten :) Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Release:14.04 udisks2: Installiert: 2.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Installationskandidat: 2.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Paket-Pinning: 2.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Versionstabelle: *** 2.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 1001 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty-updates/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.1.3-1 1001 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages ** Affects: udisks2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to udisks2 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1507003 Title: Too fast "housekeeping" prevents harddrive from sleeping Status in udisks2 package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: udisks2 has a function called housekeeping where regular stuff is done. @Björn: could you tell me where these icons need to go in the repo? By accident I just stumbled upon (almost) fitting icons in icon-themes/galaxy/res/lx032[42,45,46,47,49,50,51] All they need is cutting of two pixel of shadow. Sorry for not commenting on the new icons before. Somehow, this missed me. Hi Sanchit, I am sorry, but your icons are not pixel-aligned -- meaning the horizontal and vertical lines in the icons are rather squishy/fuzzy. It is a better idea to use the official SVG icons from [1], scale the 32*32 icon down and then make sure the everything is aligned neatly. (In Inkscape, you can use the # key to enable the pixel raster. Under View > Icon Preview you can also enable a smaller preview.) Can you try reworking those icons in this way?
