[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1174678] Re: Full screen zoom fails in Mousepad and Leafpad text editors

Matching subscriptions: dp-unity https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1174678 Title: Full screen zoom fails in Chromium Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm not sure if this is a Unity issue or an editor issue, but the same problem on 2 different editors would suggest the former. Open either of these editors. Double-click on the title bar to zoom. (Once you do this, you may never again be able to shrink the window again, beyond a small fractional amount, because you will never again be able to reach the bottom border with the "up-and-down resize arrow"; you would need to reinstall the OS!) Zoom works fine. Now close the editor. Launch it again. This time, it tries to come up zoomed, which makes sense because that was its most recent state. But the last line of text at the bottom of the screen shows through. (In other words, it would be a full-screen zoom, but the last line is still the desktop background.) So you need to double-click on the title bar twice, once to shrink and another time to zoom again. The second time, it actually zooms correctly. When you open another file or repeat the experiment, you need to quadruple-click all over again. In addition to being very awkward, this is actually quite confusing, because if you have zoomed and unzoomed editor windows open, the last line of text from document A shows up at the bottom of document B. This problem did not happen on i386 12.04 several months ago. Sorry, I no longer have the specific details. Anyway, it happens now on AMD64 12.04. Reinstalling the OS fixed it for a few sessions. Then it happened again. Perhaps zooming triggers it. I have some sense that this bug relates to the fact that Unity has its own title bar at the top, so somehow the editor is getting the wrong idea about how big "full-screen" really is. The reinstall-the-OS-to-resize issue is perhaps another bug, but I'm not going to open another report at the moment because I suspect that it's due to the same root cause. This parameter is used in versions of exo prior to 0.10.3. Because of this, opening any URLs via exo-open will cause a new firefox window to launch at the home screen. As reported, this affects the terminal, ubuntu-bug, xchat, and numerous other applications. [Test Case] 1. Set Firefox as the default web browser in "Preferred Applications". 2. From a terminal, type the following: exo-open "http://www.xfce.org"; Expected: Firefox opens at http://www.xfce.org Actual: Firefox opens at the home page. [Regression Potential] No regressions by this change. This fixes the application call to correctly open URLs. --- [Original Report] When I click a link from an email it does not work any more. Instead of opening the link in a new tab, Firefox opens a new empty window and does not follow the link. If I change the default browser for my desktop from Firefox to Chrome, then Chrome can open the link fine. I have started seeing this today since firefox was upgraded from v35 to 36. ** Changed in: xfce4-session (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to chromium-browser in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1175601 Title: Two Chromium background instances and a browser window open on boot without my permission Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Status in xfce4-session package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: When I log into my user session (type in my password on the login prompt after boot), Chromium auto-starts, and two instances of its background process automatically open: per the attached image, two Chromium icons appear in the top bar. Also, an instance of the browser appears in the middle of the screen. When this happens, I get an inconsistent browsing experince in Chromium, where it is randomly unable to connect to web sites or download components referenced by web pages (e.g., CSS files, JS files, etc.). I can fix by closing the browser and also both the background sessions, then restarting Chromium. I have never configured Chromium to start up when I log into my session. This has happened without my explicit permission or consent. If I go to Session and Startup's Application Autostart tab, Chromium appears in the list and is checked. I did not configure this. Expected behavior: No part of Chromium opens at all, not even a background process, until I launch the browser for the first time. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1366153] Re: xdg-screensaver doesn't lock screen with light-locker
Starting with version 1.5.0 and up, light-locker can be controlled via org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver DBus calls. This makes it compatible with xdg-screensaver. https://github.com/the-cavalry/light- locker/commit/dfcfc9834241225c4bd9fccc9a77714a183b805c -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xdg-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366153 Title: xdg-screensaver doesn't lock screen with light-locker Status in light-locker package in Ubuntu: New Status in xdg-utils package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When a screen-locking method is available, 'xdg-screensaver lock' should always lock the screen. Steps to reproduce: On a fresh installation of Lubuntu 14.04, run: $ xdg-screensaver lock Expected: [screen locks] Actual: ERROR: Unknown command 'lock' However, it is possible to lock the screen via: $ light-locker-command -l The xdg-screensaver script uses one of several external utilities, depending on the desktop environment. It falls through to screensaver_xserver() at line 697 (or 740, because the function is duplicated!), which does not include a lock function, even though one is available. This is a problem because xfce4-power-manager (part of lubuntu- desktop) uses xdg-screensaver to lock the screen on suspend under Lubuntu, but this has no effect. This may represent a security risk as a computer configured to (and reasonably assumed to) lock on suspend will actually resume straight to the desktop.
