[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1581626] Re: Switching to USB sound device stops USB mouse clicks from registering

2018-03-22 Thread Torsten Krah
Got this too on a Lenovo Thinkpad T530 - incredible that this one is not
fixed yet.

** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu)
   Status: Expired => Confirmed

Title:
Switching to USB sound device stops USB mouse clicks from registering

Status in xorg package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When I switch the primary sound device to a USB headset connected to
my laptop, mouse click events no longer work except in the Sound
Settings window. This does not seem to occur when the device is
connected, only when it is made the default audio device.

Once this occurs, the mouse events do not work until the device is
disconnected. Clicks inside the Sound Settings window are registered
(including buttons and other tabs inside the System Settings window,
but not the titlebar or close/minimize/maximize buttons.) Focus can
be given to other windows via alt-tab and keyboard input continues to
function, but mouse events do not register on windows focused in this
  way.

  This is *deeply* weird, BTW.

  Hardware:
  Jabra EVOLVE 80 headset
lsusb reports: Bus 002 Device 022: ID 0b0e:0305 GN Netcom

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Connect the device to a USB port.
  2. Open Sound Settings window.
  3. Select the Jabra USB device as the primary sound device.
  4. Observe that mouse clicks no longer register outside of the System
Settings window.

dmesg shows the following during this process:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 199094] Re: hdparm.conf settings (other than apm) are lost on suspend/resume?

2015-10-12 Thread Torsten Krah
"Nice" thread about systemd + hdparm:

http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/systemd-
devel/2012-June/005595.html

So it seems users should write their own udev rules to get this working
:-| or some custom distro specific stuff. Its really weird that this one
is still around after that many years which have passed now.

Title:
hdparm.conf settings (other than apm) are lost on suspend/resume?

Status in hdparm package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in pm-utils package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Update: This is on Intrepid.

  Problem:
  - Hard disks lose settings (the APM level for example) when they are powered
off.
=> Settings in /etc/hdparm.conf persist only from boot to next suspend.

  Expected:
All settings in /etc/hdparm.conf should persist across
{suspend,hibernate}/resume.

  Effects:
At least the apm setting in hdparm.conf is lost. This makes
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/acpi-support/+bug/59695 so bad -
users are not able to set the apm value without messing with their system
(installing stuff from forums) because of this bug.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1083167] [NEW] Custom HELO on SMTP delivery per Identity

2012-11-26 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

KMail has a nice feature which would be fine to have in Evolution too.
You can configure a "custom helo" to be sent to the E-Mail server in the
SMTP context, which is really useful if you need to submit a custom
hostname (e.g. if the port is tunneled via ssh).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 896375] [NEW] lightdm does ignore session selection first time non local user is choosen

2011-11-25 Thread Torsten Krah
Public bug reported:

In contrast to GDM LightDM ignores the choosen session to start for a user
account and even does forget a users choosen session after a restart/reboot.
I am using a winbind user account (from nsswitch), a non local one.
The first time the user can not be selected from the menu, you have to choose
other and enter the username.
After pressing enter i switch my session from Ubuntu to LXDE and enter my
password.
I would expect LXDE is started, however Ubuntu default Session is loaded.

I have to logout. I can choose now my user from the list (lightdm did remember
the account now) and now i have to switch from Ubuntu to LXDE again.
After entering password and login second time LXDE does load.

After a reboot a have to do the procedure from above again.
GDM did not show this Session bug, i can enter any username i want and choose a
session an its working the first time.

Expected behaviour is, after choosing a username and changing the
session, that this session is loaded.
