[Desktop-packages] [Bug 127732]

2014-12-05 Thread Uri Shabtay
seriously, people. we're in 2014.

open this .pdf file in your browser - such as Firefox or Chrome -

https://launchpadlibrarian.net/15351076/PDF%20for%20Bug%20240398.pdf

and behold - search functions works flawlessly.

why can't these be patched to Evince/Poppler?

Searching Hebrew text works in reverse order

Status in Poppler:

Status in poppler package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi,

There is problem searching Hebrew text in pdf files in evince. The
text I write in the find box is being found in reverse (perhaps in
visual order), and not in the right order of characters. The searching
works in Adobe Acrobat, so I'm guessing its not a problem in the pdf
  file itself.

  I'll attach an example pdf.

  Steps to reproduce:
  1. Open the attached pdf.
  2. Search for the word "ידיעון" (The letter "י" is the first in logical
order). The text is not found in the file.
  2. Search for the reversed word "ןועידי". (The letter "ן" is first in logical
order). The text is found in reverse in the file.

  Regards,
  Haggai Eran

problem still occurs - only now the computer doesn't hang - but
compiz/Unity crashes, and i get left off with plain windows with no
control, dash, or top bar. Ctrl + Alt + Backspace logs out fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 975108] Re: Mixed page orientaton slow down

2012-04-15 Thread Uri Shabtay
bug also relevant within RTL documents (English/Latin documents are just
fine) as can be shown within the attachment.

The document is laggy, almost unusable - unlike its English counterpart
(even with more pages, or complex characters) that is smooth as butter.

cheers.

  Mixed page orientaton slow down

Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I am working on a word document which has mixed page orientation and
when I scroll down to the landscape page (most of it is in portrait),
the scrolling becomes laggy and inputs from the keyboard are delayed
by seconds and it becomes almost unusable. When I get to the portrait
part of the document it is fine again. The same document worked fine
on 10.10 on my netbook, using LO installed from a PPA.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 903780] [NEW] auto update feature for non-linux operating systems

2011-12-13 Thread Uri Shabtay
Public bug reported:

hey folks,

Libreoffice should use (within non-linux operating systems) an auto
update feature.

Same as happened in Firefox, whereas the update is automatic, or as in
VLC, in which the update is a notification.

I believe that the Firefox mechanism is better, yet i know it's quite a
hassle to create.

cheers

xbmc should be on official ubuntu repositories

Status in XBMC for Linux:

Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  following this question:
  https://answers.launchpad.net/xbmc/+question/177432

  hello,

as i asked in AskUbuntu here:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/69914/why-isnt-xbmc-media-center-in-ubuntu-software-center
why isn't the XBoxMediaCenter (aka: xbmc) isn't in Ubuntu's official repos.?
isn't it open source?

i realize Debian is the main source of the packages, but can't Ubuntu
devs. add a package by themselves?

i doubt the fact the xbmc maintainers can make the PPA suitable for
Precise in time for 12.04 release.. and third, no, i don't like
installing PPA's for brand new software, but for software updates..

Since xbmc is fully open sourced, and the licensed issue is long
behind us (as can be read here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
  bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=469397 and here:
http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/7983 ) i believe Ubuntu should add this
(and maybe also Boxee) to the latest and greatest selection of
  software in the USC

  thanks in advance.

  Uri
