[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1575000] Re: font glyph corruption on dialog box

2016-05-03 Thread Vertago1
I just tested the 5.2.0.0 debs from:
http://ftp.utexas.edu/libreoffice/libreoffice/testing/5.2.0/deb/x86_64/LibreOfficeDev_5.2.0.0.alpha1_Linux_x86-64_deb.tar.gz
and they do not show the problem.

This is still a problem for the version of libreoffice available in
ubuntu 16.04 and should be addressed. Currently, the only demonstrated
work-around is to install a prerelease version of libreoffice not
available in the repositories.

I don't understand. It is being marked as invalid because Libreoffice
Version 5.1.2.2 shows the problem but 5.2.0.0.alpha1 doesn't?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1575000] Re: font glyph corruption on dialog box

2016-04-27 Thread Vertago1
The workaround in #5 didn't work for me. I tried checking "Force OpenGL
even if blacklisted (on restart)" and it is still showing: "Current GL
status: Disabled" I am running Kubuntu 16.04 though, so it might work
for Ubuntu.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1493888] Re: FGLRX incompatible with gcc 5

@Stephen Ranger

Do you have gcc-4.9 and dkms installed?

  FGLRX incompatible with gcc 5

Status in fglrx-installer source package in Wily:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  SRU Request:

  [Impact]

The fglrx driver is not compatible with gcc 5.x. This causes the
kernel module to crash on initialisation. As a result, users will boot
into a black screen, as X will fail (except on Intel+AMD hybrid
  systems, where intel is used).

  [Test Case]
  1. Either install (or upgrade to) Ubuntu 15.10 and fglrx
  2. Reboot
  3. Check the display, and the output of the "dmesg | grep fglrx" command (to
see the actual crash)

Expected results: the system should be able to start X correctly.

  Actual results:
The kernel module fails and X doesn't start.

  [Regression Potential]
Low. Forcing fglrx to use gcc 4.9 is only a temporary workaround, and will be
replaced with the proper fix once AMD makes it available.

  __

With a R9 280 and FGLRX on ubuntu 15.10 the graphics lock up. I am
able to SSH into the machine. I booted the older kernel
(4.1.0-3-generic) and it works with FGLRX. After purging FGLRX and
using xserver-xorg-video-radeon I am able to get the graphics working,
but even it has issues with my display port (The DVI ports are working
  correctly).

@Carlos

The safest thing to do would be to enable proposed just long enough to
install the updated packages, then disable the proposed repo. Don't
install other packages from proposed if you are worried about them
breaking things.

Install fglrx-updates from the wily-proposed repositories. It has a fix.
I am not sure why it hasn't be released from proposed yet. It should be

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1470862] Re: When using fglrx module, the virtual consoles are blank and useless

2015-10-27 Thread Vertago1
This problem makes it so that neither driver works in all cases for me.
I have a display-port and performance issues with the open source
driver, and I have graphics tearing in chrome along with this
framebuffer/virtual console issue with the fglrx drivers. Has anyone
found a work-around using the grub config?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 569641] Re: Kde text-to-speech missing dependency

2014-01-05 Thread Vertago1
Kttsd is now a transitional package, and Jovie is its replacement. As
far as I can tell there is not a problem. Thanks for asking.

I need a work around because my card is not supported by the mainstream driver
I have to use this one:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 814777] Re: Occassional mouse cursor corruption on primary display

2012-09-26 Thread Vertago1
This affects me on both fglrx, fglrx-updates, and the latest driver from
AMD (as of today 2012-09-26). I have seen it since I build this computer
with AMD cards. It only shows up on occasion and is hard to reproduce. I
am using two Radeon HD5700 cards and Kubuntu 64bit 12.04. I am using two
monitors, the problem only shows up on the primary display.

Rebooting clears the problem until it appears again.

Title:
Occassional mouse cursor corruption on primary display

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I often get into the state where the cursor on my internal laptop
display (1920x1080 resolution) gets corrupted into a single-pixel wide
vertical dotted bar (see approximate center of attached screenshot),
but the mouse cursor on my external display (1920x1200 resolution) is
  fine.

alternate cursors (window resize handles/text cursor, etc) either
display the same vertical bar, stretch it out a few extra pixels, or
cause the cursor to disappear entirely.

gnome-screenshot captures that include the cursor _do_ appear correct,
but not sure how much of that is screenshot-capturing-cursor-emulation
  type code.

Title:
jockey doesn't detect discrete nvidia in lenovo t420 (NO OPTIMUS)

Status in “jockey” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have a T420 lenovo (hardware info attached). I selected "nvidia
discrete graphics" in the BIOS, so no "optimus" is in play, and jockey
won't offer me the option of using the proprietary driver. It will
just say "No proprietary drivers are in use on this sytem" in a blank
  window.
