[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1263958] Re: Volume scroll control with natural scrolling is unintuitive

2015-08-18 Thread Wolter Hellmund
Well intuition is obviously something subjective, like an opinion. What
matters is not whether the issue is opinion or not, is whether the
opinion is of a majority or not. So far, 2 people including myself find
this to be a problem, and 1 (you) disagree.

I tried to use apport-retrace but I didn't know which argument to pass.
If I passed the crash file at /var/crash then it attempted to download
some files and then nothing else happened.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 910143] Re: libreoffice-nlpsolver (0.9~beta1-6) not working

2014-10-25 Thread Wolter Hellmund
For me, purging libreoffice-nlpsolver, commanding the install of
libreoffice and then installing libreoffice-nlpsolver extension solved
the issue.

Now, to have the non-linear algorithms show up in the solver, I
installed openjdk-7-jre like Thalis recommends.

The problem I am having is that even after I set the refresh rate options in
compiz to 60 Hz (after disabling the "Detect Refresh Rate" option), a reboot
will have the settings revert. If I change settings in the compiz config
settings manager, they should remain even after a reboot.

Bug description:
There have been similar bug reports to this one, such as bug #1009338
and bug #1027868, but I believe this case is different.

The problem I am having is that even after I set the refresh rate options in
compiz to 60 Hz (after disabling the "Detect Refresh Rate" option), a reboot
will have the settings revert. If I change settings in the compiz config
settings manager, they should remain even after a reboot.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI

2013-06-14 Thread Wolter Hellmund
Am I the only one who gets an error saying that I should stop
S15networking via sudo service networking stop or sudo stop networking?

I tried running that command alone and I get a crash. Perhaps this is
what's causing the problem?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2013-05-12 Thread Wolter Hellmund
Its this new regressed design philosophy the entire Gnome team has
adopted, they are taking customization away from the end-user like it
was funny. Another example is the new wallpaper picker Background.

Bug description:
Prior to upgrading to quantal, Empathy had a compact mode for the
contacts list. This would show each contact on a single line that was
just tall enough to display the contact's username. This way, I would
be able to use my high resolution monitor to view all of my online
  contacts simultaneously.

Under Empathy 3.6 on quantal, the option for a compact mode
disappeared and each contact in the list takes about 3 times the
vertical space needed to display the contact's username. Now even
with my high resolution montor, I can only view about 1/3 of my online
  contacts at a time.

Please bring back the compact mode.
