Right here on this bz, just that older bugs don't apply to new code.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1050179]

2013-09-09 Thread Zeeshan Ali
Closing all bugs on old geoclue. If your bug still applies to new
geoclue, please do re-open, I really don't have time to go through each
and every bug and evaluate separately. :( Apologies for any
inconvenience caused by this change.

Title:
Network providers that aren't cacheable are never used

Status in GeoClue: The Geoinformation Service:
  Won't Fix
Status in “geoclue” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Basically if you require a network, and you don't report yourself as
cacheable, then GeoclueMaster isn't watching the connection status so
you'll never get to a connected state in a reasonable way. This makes
sources that want to check and update over time using the network as
  basically unusable.

geoclue: will fail to build against gpsd 3.3

Status in GeoClue: The Geoinformation Service:
  Won't Fix
Status in “geoclue” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
As the freedesktop.org upstream is kinda dead, but geoclue seems to be
ina bit of development in Ubuntu I'm filing the bug here, too.

gpsd 3.3 (currently in Debian experimental) comes with a new API (v5)
and geoclue will fail to build against it. IMHO the whole gpsd
provider should be rewritten - parsing NMEA is not really the best way
to handle gps data. Enough examples should be shipped with gpsd's
  source code.

don't hesitate to ask if you have questions :)

Ryan Lortie recently made it work on the basic level (only IP-based
geolocation) on FreeBSD so it might just work for testing and
development purposes on Mac too.

Its featureful enough now for firefox to use it. :)

That is correct.
