[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1969622] Re: save file dialog doesn't allow saving to a directory without files

2022-05-03 Thread benste
I'm still experiencing issues related to my original bug which was marked as
duplicate of this bug.
Even though i can now save files once i open a directory i can not save
directly into a directory in case the file does not exist yet. I always need to
go one dir up and open the same directory again - tested with all updated with
a Firefox download.

Title:
save file dialog doesn't allow saving to a directory without files

Status in GTK+:

Status in gtk4 package in Ubuntu:

Status in gtk4 source package in Jammy:

Bug description:
  Impact
  --
Ubuntu uses xdg-desktop-portal-gnome for the save dialog for snaps (like
Firefox or Chromium). xdg-desktop-portal-gnome in Ubuntu 22.04 uses gtk4
This issue also affects gnome-text-editor which uses gtk4 directly.

Attempting to save a file to an empty folder won't work in many cases
because the Save button is insensitive (unable to be clicked).

  Test Case
  -
View this page with the Firefox or Chromium snaps.
Press Ctrl+S to try to save this page.
Navigate to a folder without any files in it. (It can have other folders in
it.)
The Save button should stay lit up.
  Save the file.

Note that I wasn't able to reproduce the bug for bookmarked folders in
the left sidebar so just navigate using the main view area.

  What Could Go Wrong

This is a one-line bug fix from the stable gtk-4-6 branch targeted to
directly fix this issue.

  Other Notes
  ---
I do not believe we need to respin the Ubuntu 22.04 ISOs for this issue.
I do request a 0-day SRU since this is a small high impact fix that affects
the usability of the Firefox snap.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1969925] [NEW] Save as Dialog from Firefox has save button greyed out if subfolder is opened

2022-04-22 Thread benste
Public bug reported:

Regression Bug

Steps to reproduce:

1. Download any Document and choose save as
2. pick a different folder than preselected
3. notice how the save button is active when clicking a folder (once)
4. double click to navigate into subfolder - notice how save icon is disabled

Expected behaviour - the file should be saved using the specified name
in that recently opened sub directory.

I've tried it with a PDF file, but i suspect this might be a bug...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1772383] Re: WD15 Dell Thunderbolt dock no audio

2018-05-23 Thread benste
A big sorry from my side ... i totally forgot that i did also boot into Windows
during the last months at least once ... looks like windows update or something
similar broke the device, installing updates in that other system and rebooting
to ubuntu did the trick.
I had to reenable the profiles again in order to get it fully working but now
it runs smooth as before :) - only tested the front port though :)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1772383] Re: WD15 Dell Thunderbolt dock no audio

2018-05-22 Thread benste
Hi there, i've actually even deleted the one line but still the profile
shows in pactl list as shown attached.

Also i've tried various variations of aplay -D plughw:CARD=USB Audio test.wav
and
aplay -D plughw:CARD=alsa_card.usb-Generic_USB_Audio_200901010001-00,DEV=0
test.wav

but didn't do anything only
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1713:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
aplay: main:788: audio open error: No such device

==
With vanilla i meant the version which should be installed on the system
without me messing around with it e.g. compared to a fresh install

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1772383] Re: WD15 Dell Thunderbolt dock no audio

2018-05-21 Thread benste
@Hui Wang
No change - copying the file in the same dir adding .bak is sufficient right-
or will this be read as a 2nd conf?

+ iirc this is the line i had to add with the workaround - is there a
way to ensure that both the 90-pulseaudio.rules as well as the "dell-
dock-tb16-usb-audio.conf" match the vanilla ones from upstream?

@Daniel - Could have been the upgrade to bionic ... Something within the
last month if not weeks

  [Impact]

If users use the latest Dell USB Dock, e.g. TB16, they will found the
analog audio (lineout jack) can't work under ubuntu linux

  [Test Case]

After applying the fix, users can play sound via analog speaker or
lineout freely. Without the fix, users can't play sound from lineout
  jack.

  [Regression Potential]

No any possibility to introduce regression since this fix just adding
a new dock's support, it does not change any existing code.

  [Other Info]

  No more info here

  Steps:
  1. Cold boot system with BME/IE connected
  2. Plug in a speaker to Line-out jack
  3. Set Analog Stereo Output from Sound settings

Expected results: Line-out port can work

Actual results: Line-out port not work

It looks like this fix actually created a regression bug wich might be
related to the workaround implemented before ... Not sure but curent
situation is that it does no longer work correctly ...

Same here, this seems to be a regression bug - didnt happen to me on 14.10

I Do happen to have that permission :-)

But shouldn't we rather open a new bug as your language selection issue
relates to normal users as well ? Maybe it already exists?

  [precise] Enable grilo plugin

Status in “rhythmbox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
At the moment grilo plugin is not being built thus leaving Jamendo and
UPnP out of rhythmbox. This is only a packaging issue and can be
  easily fixed:

  debian/control:
- Add libgrilo-0.1-dev to Build-Depends
- Add gir1.2-grilo-0.1 to Depends on rhythmbox-plugins (or create a new
package)

debian/rhythmbox-plugins.install (or specific to a new package)
- Add usr/lib/rhythmbox/plugins/grilo

All grilo packages are now in Universe so this may not be done that
  easily though.

in my opnion taking a look at it as a professional system the option

documentation that it needs the recommended dependency of xyz

i'd say it's a bug at the moment not just a wish - even though it has a

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 518890] Re: Network Manager doesn't offer to share my connection if using IPv6

2012-07-03 Thread benste
open nm manager applet
create a new wired connection - or modfy existing one
in the IPv4 tab choose "shared to other computers"

→ successful ipv4 shared internet connection

try the same but use IPv6 instead of the ipv4 tab
→ the choicebox entry for shared is existant but greyed out without any further
help

expectation ipv6 share should be as simple as ipv4

assumption - some backend is missing to provide IPv6 internet sharing
or - maybe a ipv6 connection is required ?

see screenshot

confirmed on 5 different machines varieng from 11.04 to 12.04

you must be kidding - of course it claims the feautre otherwise it
wouldn't be a bug report ! - would be a wishlist request if it wouldn't
be there ...

i don't have access to the hardware this month - but a very suprised that you
just simply closed the bug ...
I have to admit that it might be deprecated with 12.04 though - but i couldn't
test it yet - and that needs to be done before closing this BUG.

I'd appreciate if you take it upstream but i didn't have the time for
that yet
