This case is common in systems which use the greeter as a lock screen. The bug was introduced in revision 1954 to fix bug 1296276. The race condition seems to have been made more likely to the change in revision 2437 to fix bug 1637758. [Test Case] 1. Log into a session 2. Switch to the greeter (e.g. dm-tool switch-to-greeter) 3. Log in again Expected result Returned to existing session Observed result Not always returned, can end up on blank screen. Since this is a race condition this may not occur on some systems. [Regression Potential] Low, the fix is to correct a logic bug that made LightDM think it hadn't stopped a session correctly. A similar issue exists in Xubuntu. Default xubuntu install however does not allow to resume a locked session at all. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1621906] Re: LibreOffice Base table bottom section blank - 16.04 upgrade display issues
** Package changed: xfce4-panel (Ubuntu) => libreoffice (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to libreoffice in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1621906 Title: LibreOffice Base table bottom section blank - 16.04 upgrade display issues Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Confusion-confusion: the ubuntu-bug -w command selected xfce4-panel. However, the bug I wanted to report (following instruction after ubuntu-buf -w command) was the "summary" above, i.e. LibreOffice Base data table bottom section is blank after running distro upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04. Actually, there were other problems, but I can live with them or fixed them myself. This one is not a big problem, but my be the indication of a much bigger and general problem: window manager or display manager mis-behavior after standard upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04. Here the problem has an easy fix and therefore the problem is just an annoyance. The easy fix (which only corrects the symptom, but not the bug) is to adjust the data table window frame right side larger or smaller a little. Immediately, the bottom part of the window (I don't know the official name of it, but it is where Record n of N + arrow for next record, last record or new record, + horizontal slider shows up) becomes visible. The reason I suspect this is a harbinger of bigger display/window problem is because on two separate older desktop machines (different graphics cards) a similar problem occurs, but more generally. Namely, on some application the window within application is blank, or worse yet, any pop-up or generated window appears totally black or white. The only way to shut down the machine decently is to switch to CTL-SH-f1 console mode, login, and type in a reboot or shutdown command. This has made the upgraded machine totally unusable. One more thing: on that other machine the symlink /etc/resolve.conf file is missing after upgrade. Hope this helps - jankom ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: xfce4-panel 4.12.0-3ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-36.55-generic 4.4.16 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-36-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: XFCE Date: Fri Sep 9 10:52:10 2016 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/xfce4-panel InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-10-31 (1043 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 12.04.3 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Release amd64 (20130820) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xfce4-panel UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to xenial on 2016-07-30 (41 days ago) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1621906/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Not sure why you are seeing what you are but given you think it's on 14.04.5 probably a new bug, please re-report it and see if you can get others to confirm on 14.04.5. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568604 Title: Mouse cursor lost when unlocking with Intel graphics Status in elementary OS: Fix Released Status in xf86-video-intel: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel source package in Xenial: Confirmed Status in xserver-xorg-video-intel package in Debian: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] Mouse cursor is no longer visible after VT-switch for systems with Intel graphics. Switching VTs again may cause the cursor to become visible again. - Changing to vt1 then back to vt7 (ctrl+alt+f1 then ctrl+alt+f7) This is often observed in systems that lock the session and return to the greeter (including at least Xubuntu, Ubuntu Mate, and elementary OS). [Test Case] (Requires a lightdm-based screen locking solution) 1. Start a new session. 2. Lock your screen. 2a. You are redirected to the lightdm greeter. 3. Login/Unlock your session. 4. Cursor is no longer visible. [Regression Potential] remains to be seen === [Original Report] Cursor is visible at unlock screen either after returning from suspend or just locking. After unlocking screen cursor is invisible. Changing to vt1 then back to vt7 (ctrl+alt+f1 then ctrl+alt+f7) cursor returns no matter if you suspend or sleep, to swap or disk when you return from it, the mouse cursor is missing.you can still move the mouse and you can see (because it highlights the window) as you move it around. But the cursor is not displayed on the screen. i am using a lenovo W540 laptop. I downloaded the latest beta on april 8 2016. this is xubuntu using the xfce window manager. the cursor does return if i log off and log back in, but that actually defeats the purpose of going to sleep. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-04-08 (2 days ago) InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Beta amd64 (20160323) NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_modeset nvidia Package: light-locker 1.7.0-2ubuntu1 PackageArchitecture: amd64 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-18.34-generic 4.4.6 Tags: xenial Uname: Linux 4.4.0-18-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: _MarkForUpload: True To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/elementaryos/+bug/1568604/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

possibly a dupe of bug 1551599 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-software in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1583403 Title: Install button still shows after Installing app Status in gnome-software package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: [What Happens] == Installing -- 1. Open the Software app (GNOME Software). Search for clocks. 2. Click Install next to Clocks. 3. The Install button becomes insensitive and changes to Installing... 4. The Install button becomes sensitive again and changes back to Install (it should have changed to Remove) 5. If you click the Clocks row (still in the All page), the Clocks info page opens with an Install button (it should have a Launch button and a Remove button). 6. If you switch to the Installed page, Clocks correctly shows up with a Remove button. 7. If you click the Clocks row in the Installed page, the Clocks info page correctly opens with a Launch button and a Remove button. 8. Close the Software app then reopen it. Same results as #4-7 above. 9. $ pkill gnome-software 10. Open the Software app. Now Clocks shows up correctly in the All page with a Remove button and the Clocks info page correctly includes the Launch and Remove buttons but not the Install button. Removing 11. Click the Remove button to uninstall Clocks. 12. The Remove button becomes insensitive again and changes to Removing... 12. We basically get the same broken results as before. In the All page, the Clocks row shows Remove still. Clicking the Clocks row shows the Info page with Launch and Remove. One change is that in the Installed page, Clocks shows up twice, once with an Install button, once with a Remove button. Completely stopping the gnome-software process (via logging out or the pkill trick mentioned in #9) is necessary for the Software app to correctly register Clocks as being removed. I was unable to reproduce this bug with Fedora 24. [Original Bug Report] = Problems & Actions: - I noticed that after removing an app, the status button of the App do not correctly reflect the updated status. Neither is the removed App removed from the Installed tab immediately after a removal. - I notice a lot failures and warnings in my syslog within just 10 mins of using gnome-software. - I hope these info can help figure out the issues and provide a bug fix soon. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1529225] Re: Unable to select added languages
@gunnar - thanks for your comments Seems a bit half-baked to allow removal of a language that breaks the functionality, one of those 'this is why Linux will never be the desktop' issues in my opinion. I'd happily check that English is uninstallable at some point in the future if that ever happens. Given that the bug is in the way the software works and enricobe knows now where the bug lies seems pointless in me doing more. I do actually read changelogs of things I 'watch' I'll just add *language* to the list and see if anything turns up in the future. Maybe rather than close it. Re-word the title to 'Stop removal of English from Language Support' and mark it wishlist. [Steps to reproduce] 1. Create an empty file: touch ~/test 2. Move it to trash: gvfs-trash ~/test 3. Launch some file manager, browse Trash folder and try to restore the file. I've tested it with the following file managers: Caja, Nemo, Nautilus and Thunar. [Expected result] The file should be restored to its original location. [What happens instead] The file manager complains that it can't determine the original location of the file, and so doesn't restore it. [Details] When moving file to Trash, gvfs-trash does not add trash::orig-path and trash::deletion-date attributes to it. Without that the file manager can't determine the original location of the file, and hence can't restore it.
