Same problem after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 via "do-release- upgrade". However in my case the issue occurred not for a Wired connection, but for a Mobile Broadband connection (device ttyUSB2 of type gsm over interface ppp0). Comment 7 fixed the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658921 Title: NetworkManager does not manage wired connection Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: NetworkManager does not manage my wired eth0 connection, no matter how I set /etc/network/interfaces or /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf Using ubuntu 16.04, /etc/network/interfaces only managed lo, and [ifupdown] section of NetworkManager.conf had set managed=false. With these same settings, after upgrading to ubuntu 16.10, eth0 appears as unmanaged in nm-applet. If I modify /etc/network/interfaces and add auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp And set managed=true in NetworkManager.conf [ifupdown] section, eth0 is still unmanaged despite it does get an IP from DHCP server. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1658921 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1658921 Same problem after an upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10 via "do-release- upgrade". However in my case the issue occurred not for Ethernet or Bluetooth, but for Mobile Broadband (device ttyUSB2 of type gsm over interface ppp0). So, the changelog comment 'we definitely want NM to manage wifi and mobile data' is not really holding. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1508718] Re: NetworkManager - error initialzing editor
I have the same problem, using a Huawei E173 under Ubuntu 15.10. I confirm that connections remain editable before reboot, when created through nm-applet. This works both for those created using 'Edit Connections' as for those created using the "New Mobile Broadband connection" menu item (menu item of nm-applet showing up when modem is registered, without any existing configured connections). Two other observations: 1. When I create a new connection using "New Mobile Broadband connection", and edit it immediately afterwards, I don't see any APN configured. As the connection works, I nevertheless assume that this information is somehow available to NetworkManager. 2. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1088775] Re: gwibber does not refresh Facebook feeds
** Changed in: gwibber (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = gerardo garcia juarez (iscgerardo) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gwibber in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1088775 Title: gwibber does not refresh Facebook feeds Status in Gwibber: Fix Committed Status in “gwibber” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “gwibber” source package in Precise: Confirmed Status in “gwibber” source package in Quantal: Confirmed Bug description: Since around November 28th, Gwibber stopped updating my Facebook feeds. First, I tried to delete my facebook account from online accounts and than uninstall and reinstall gwibber. Then, I removed ubuntu from facebook app settings after doing all of the above. Then I checked my proxy settings, and my proxy is on none. When I open gwibber, I see feeds that are 12-13 days old and when I try to refresh, it does not do anything. I mean it does not even write refreshing... at the bottom of the screen. When I check if gwibber- service is running correctly I get no mistake in the terminal. I've looked a lot around bugs sections in many sites but none of them had an answer. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 851055] Re: [Oneiric] 'Not Authorized' error given when mounting device
Just made a clean 64bit install from alternate (for RAID and LVM) same problem. Solved by sudo apt-get remove lightdm sudo apt-get install gdm reboot in recovery mode add myself to sudo group (/etc/group and /etc/gshadow) reboot normally sudo apt-get install lightdm sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop sudo bash passwd root System Definitions - User Accounts - unlock (use root password) make myself an Admin user For some reason I had lost my admin rights too so I had to do those extra steps do recover it (why?). Now Hibernate and Suspend are also option on the Gear button. (while in gdm the desktop start was *much* slower). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/851055 Title: [Oneiric] 'Not Authorized' error given when mounting device Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in “lightdm” source package in Oneiric: Fix Released Bug description: Oneiric Ocelot with latest update.
