the newer kernel from Bionic and it will work out of the box. I
installed 4.18.0-16-generic and it works now.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 402892] Re: Mouse cursor gets stuck in "drag and drop" mode

2019-04-05 Thread kecsap
Similar to @Flavio Henrique Bastos, @Paul Müller, it happened on my
Lenovo X1 Yoga, running the touchscreen with libinput driver
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-
wacom/+bug/1774242).

Disabling/enabling the touch screen resolved the problem:

xinput --set-prop "Wacom Pen and multitouch sensor Finger" "Device Enabled" 0
xinput --set-prop "Wacom Pen and multitouch sensor Finger" "Device Enabled" 1

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1774242] Re: Wacom touchscreens should use libinput, not wacom driver

2019-04-05 Thread kecsap
Proposed fix works, the touchscreen is much more usable with libinput on
Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga 1st gen now.

--
You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop
Packages, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1774242

Title:
Wacom touchscreens should use libinput, not wacom driver

Status in xf86-input-wacom package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/70-wacom.conf as shipped, has this:

  Section "InputClass"
  Identifier "Wacom touchscreen class"
  MatchProduct "Wacom|WACOM|PTK-540WL|ISD-V4"
  MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
  MatchIsTouchscreen "true"
  Driver "wacom"
  EndSection

The result is that on my Yoga 920, in a plain X11 session (running
openbox in my case), the touchscreen acts like a broken mouse: there
is no multi-touch capability in Qt Quick applications, and clicking
isn't quite right either. I also verified it with Peter Hutterer's
  old cairo-based mt-touch test program.

I suspect we will get some users mistakenly writing up Qt bugs about
this if you don't ship a fix. (Seems to me that already happened at
  least once, actually.)

Yes, the touchscreen is made by Wacom, but wacom_drv.so has
historically been only for Wacom tablets and in-screen stylus
digitizers, and IMO that continues to be the case. libinput is a much
better choice of driver for this hardware (so is evdev for that
matter), so I changed it to Driver "libinput" and got it working.
(Wayland uses libinput, so in a wayland session, touch already works
fine in Qt apps on this hardware.)

I'm one of the Qt Quick maintainers, most concerned with touch
handling, and I've also written some of the Qt xcb code for dealing
with XInput touch and tablet devices. So if you think that there's
something wrong with Qt, such that it should still work anyway to use
a wacom driver for a Wacom touchscreen, let me know. These AES
devices are still new to me (that's why I got a Yoga, to try it out).

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1522922] Re: Screen flickering in Intel i915 driver

2016-10-30 Thread kecsap
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1554613 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613

@John Smith: I have two older laptops with Intel chips, one Westmere and
one Ivy Bridge architecture. Only one solution fixed the screen flickers
on both laptop, installing the drm-intel-nightly kernel:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/current/

I use this suggested config for Xorg, but I don't think it has any
effect:

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "AccelMethod" "sna"
   Option "TearFree""true"
   Option "DRI""3"
EndSection

I tried many kernels versions, tinkering with the Xorg configm, but the
nightly kernel was the real cure to use the intel driver in Xorg on my
laptops.

Screen flickering in Intel i915 driver

Bug description:
There's an upstream bug reported here
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91393 that causes screen
flickering when using the Intel i915 builtin driver (at resolutions
  lower than the maximal one).

I think that it will be fixed in newer kernel versions, but for the
  time being, as reported here
  https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91393#c25 (and as
personally tested) reverting those two commits fixes the problem.

Would that be possible to release a fixed version for the 4.2.0
  stream?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1241101] Re: Java crash in libglib-2.0 after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-05-18 Thread kecsap
Guys, I am on 13.10 and nothing fixed this issue except downloading
Eclipse Kepler from eclipse.org instead of the non-working Eclipse in
the Ubuntu repos

I tried different version of Java (Oracle v7 and v6 jre) with same
result. Also, Eclipse display blank menus so there's a general java
  problem with displays.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 124440] Re: Ubuntu needs a way to set mouse scrolling speed

2013-09-23 Thread kecsap
1. I would advice people to switch to KDE from Gnome. It has proper
mouse settings and much more.

2. I don't know if it helps for somebody, but I use mouse scroll
emulation when the right mouse button is clicked down then moving the
mouse up and down scrolls. -> I can more dinamically/quickly/accurately
use on my laptop.

It is a system wide solution, set up once, restart the computer and
enjoy in every app. It does not matter if it is Gnome or KDE. Create a
file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf with the content:

Section "InputClass"
Identifier "evdev pointer catchall"
MatchIsPointer "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"
Option "EmulateWheel" "true"
Option "EmulateWheelButton""3"
EndSection

I originally used this tweek because my laptop does not have a touchpad,
but I pleased to use with my Bluetooth/USB mouses for the same machine,
it is a much better experience for me.

Bug description:
This has been driving me nuts for a while now. The scroll wheel on my
desktop mouse (it's an MS wireless optical mouse model 1008) scrolls
rather fast. Instead of moving a few lines, it scrolls half a page or
more with a very gentle scroll. The bluetooth mouse I use with my
laptop does not do this so it's probably somewhat hardware specific.
However, I'm wondering if there is a way to modify the speed or
sensitivity. I found an answer here from about a year ago
  (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/1339) that suggests
there isn't a way but I'm wondering if anything has changed since
then. I've also skimmed through synaptic but didn't see anything
  promising (like gsynaptic for touchpads).

  Thanks.

  See https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/9200 for more
  information.
