[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1972079] [NEW] Switching "High Contrast" on and off, doesn't revert to the previous GTK+ theme
Public bug reported: I used to use the "Adwaita-dark" GTK+ theme. I now opened gnome settings and enabled the "High Contrast" option in the Accessibility settings. This changed the theme to "HighContrast" as expected. When I disabled the "High Contrast" option though, the theme was set to "Adwaita". I can switch back and forth between "HighContrast" and "Adwaita" now, but I There doesn't seem to be an option in gnome-settings to change the theme, so I'm stuck with this now. I tried changing the theme in gnome-tweaks, but this only allows me to set the theme for legacy apps. I just closed the settings dialog and as soon as I did, the cursor went to being extra large. Since then it behaves as it should and I was not able to reproduce the issue. However when place the mouse cursor on top of it and use the scroll wheel, I could not move the slider. Same happens when I try to use the cursor keys on the keyboard. My assumption: When using the scroll wheel or the keyboard, the slider is moved by only a small fraction. So if the left-most position is 0% and the right-most is 100%, it will try to increment it by 10%. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1948486] Re: Keyboard Brightness controll not operable using keyboard or mouse scrollwheel
I just figured out that I can move the slider between the left-most and right-most position using the home and end keys on my keyboard, I haven't been able to put it to the middle just using the keyboard. I also consider this not very intuitive. There is a Fn-key combination on the built in keyboard though which controls this brightness level, so it might not be that much of an issue. But there might be other areas where there are similar issues with scrollbars. So it might be a general issue with GTK+ scrollbars or a scrollbar might not be suitable for this setting. Directly above is the control for controlling the built in screen's brightness, but as this has much more granularity, I don't experience this issue there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1948486 Title: Keyboard Brightness controll not operable using keyboard or mouse scrollwheel Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: At the power settings there is a slider for setting the "Keyboard Brightness". [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1792843] Re: GDM lock screen will not accept credentials and then loses keyboard?
I have almost the same issue. Using gdm3, when I lock my session (e.g. with +) the lock screen doesn't accept keyboard and mouse events at all. This all began right after the upgrade from bionic to cosmic. Another thing which might be related as it only happens when I use gdm3: When I open the activities view, it never goes away. This means: I see the launcher on the left, my desktop wallpaper overlayed with transparent black (for this dimm-effect) and this stays for ever. I can search for application, run programs either from the launcher or by searching for them or e.g. by pressing registered key combinations. The program-icons apear in the launcher as they should, but I don't see any actual program images as it appears they are all hidden beneath the activities background. When using sddm or lightdm I don't have this issues (though I have others). Software: Ubuntu cosmic amd64 with latest updates. X-Session: Gnome on Xorg Hardware: Lenovo Thinkpad x230 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1792843 Title: GDM lock screen will not accept credentials and then loses keyboard? Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: So yesterday I got the prompt to upgrade my 16LTS system to 18. This caused a number of issues, but the most frustrating issue out of many has to be this one. After a period of inactivity, the lock screen kicks in. When I then try to log in, using the correct password, I get a spinner for about 10 seconds, the "Authentication error". After a couple of seconds "Authentication error" goes away but now it seems no keys are registering at all in the password field. I say "it seems" because I see no "*"s as I type, but I do see occasional prompts of "Authentication error" coming back, but I haven't pinpointed the circumstances - certainly not triggered by hitting ENTER, sometimes backspace? Not sure if it has anything to do with the keys. After this all I can do is log in over ssh and reboot; I'm basically locked out on the console. If I wait a while the keyboard does seem to come back but the problem is still there - my password is not accepted and then the keyboard again seems to do nothing for a while. This happens whether I have a USB keyboard connected or whether I am running Synergy and using a virtual keyboard. Mouse continues to work fine. ** Summary changed: - scp-debus-service creates 100s of thousands symlinks to the ppd-file in /tmp untill the root filesystem runs out of inodes everytime I print something + scp-dbus-service creates 100s of thousands symlinks to the ppd-file in /tmp untill the root filesystem runs out of inodes everytime I print something -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to system-config-printer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1156398 Title: scp-dbus-service creates 100s of thousands symlinks to the ppd-file in /tmp untill the root filesystem runs out of inodes everytime I print something Status in “system-config-printer” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When I print e.g. a webpage in Firefox, shortly after the printing finished, the root filesystem is running out of available inodes. /tmp/ is populated with hundreds of thousands of symlinks to /etc/cups/ppd/Hewlett-Packard-hp-LaserJet-4350.ppd which are all named like 51465 (where x is a hexadecimal digit) and are created at a rate of aprox. 1500 new symlinks per second.
