[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1441423] Re: printers not listed
i spoke too soon. i got a pc working somehow, on a laptop, i did the same setup and conf and nothing works. 1 if Shared is unchecked, printer is visible in cups webgui; it does not list in system-config-printer and print dialogs. if printer is added using system-config-printer with Shared unchecked, it will "disappear" after Apply/Save. 2 network/remote printer with raw queue, cups will always force Shared unchecked; said printer disappear from the list. 3 network/remote printer with specified printer driver (rather than raw queue), Shared can be checked; said printer appear on the list, however, print jobs will result in "filter failure" due to double conversion? suggestion is to use raw queue (see point 2) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to system-config-printer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441423 Title: printers not listed Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1. system-config-printer is not showing all printers listed in cups web interface. 2. print dialog of applications not showing all printers listed in cups web interface. 3. lpstat -a (same result as in 1., 2.) === system-config-printer v1.5.6 cups v2.0.2 Linux zzz 3.19.0-12-generic #12-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 3 04:03:26 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) Release: 15.04 Codename: vivid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/1441423/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1441423] Re: printers not listed
after stopping cups, i rm printers.conf and deleted the network printers entry from printers.conf.O restarted cups using cups webgui, manually added the network printers with "Share" field checked. all the printers as seen in cups webgui now appears in ubuntu print dialogs and in system-config-printer. 1 something to do with the Share field? 2 i've manually changed the Share from No to Yes in printers.conf (after stopping cups), when cups is restarted after the edit, the Share is magically forced back to No, maybe Spock did it. 3 the reason am trying to un-share the network printer is that with share on, the same network printer is shown multiple times by the wonderful network discovery. (by the source printer and from all the pc that shared it!) 4 is there some way to remove/detach a network printer in cups webgui? if i remove a printer in cups webgui, it redirects to the source printer webgui and if you have enough rights, the source printer is deleted! i just want to remove/detach the network printer from my pc, not remove the printer totally from the network. 5 redirects after modifying printers does not work, results in blank screen. is this cups or firefox problem? eg. http://localhost:631/admin/?OP=redirect&URL=/printers/llama 6 now that i can see all the printers, i still can't print to the network printers, it's indicating "Filter failure" when printing a pdf file to an epson lx-310 dot matrix. it was working before upgrading ubuntu/cups. saw Alfred comment, so am not the only one with this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to system-config-printer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441423 Title: printers not listed Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: 1. system-config-printer is not showing all printers listed in cups web interface. 2. print dialog of applications not showing all printers listed in cups web interface. 3. lpstat -a (same result as in 1., 2.) === system-config-printer v1.5.6 cups v2.0.2 Linux zzz 3.19.0-12-generic #12-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 3 04:03:26 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu Vivid Vervet (development branch) Release: 15.04 Codename: vivid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/1441423/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
