Funny, I was just about to say this :) People on Reddit will be mad but from both a security standpoint it seems it's the right thing to do. After that, the 102.x series will no longer receive critical security updates. Due to the size and complexity of the Mozilla/Thunderbird codebase, it is extremely unlikely that the Ubuntu team could take on the task of backporting patches to new security issues once official support for the 102.x series has ended. * Updating to Thunderbird 115.x in all currently-supported Ubuntu releases will make sure users stay secure. * It should be noted that 115.x does make changes to the interface. While all these changes are ostensibly for the better, normally this level of change would disqualify an application from getting SRUed. However, running an EOL email client is a security/privacy risk to users that can't be ignored. * Official post detailing the interface changes: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/115.0/whatsnew/ * Official changelog for 115.0 release: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/115.0/releasenotes/ * Official changelog for 115.1 bugfix release: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/115.1.0/releasenotes/ [ Test Plan ] Not sure, I'm just a user [ Where problems could occur ] * New major release, usual concerns apply [ Other Info ] * I'm guessing that this SRU was already planned to happen eventually, but since I couldn't find an official request, here we are To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/2029913/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

After some more thinking, it would probably make sense to enable it by default but disable it for KWin < 1.19.3, so those users don't get hit by the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1697122 Title: Package Firefox with MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 in environment to enable pixel scrolling with touchpad and touch gestures Status in Mozilla Firefox: Confirmed Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu version: Kubuntu 17.04 Firefox version: 53.0.3+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.2 In Firefox, two-finger scroll gestures on a touchpad are interpreted as scroll wheel rotations, and the content scrolls three lines at a time. This is inappropriate behavior for touchpad scrolling; it should scroll pixel-by-pixel. Firefox already has the ability to do this, you just need to turn it on by running the program with MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 in the environment: for example, by running `MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 firefox`, or adding it to /etc/environment or something like that. Turning on this behavior yields a large usability improvement for laptop users. Therefore, I am proposing that MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 be permanently added to the packaging such that it's always present when Firefox runs. Is there any possibility of enabling this soon? Out-of-the-box Firefox is unusable with touchscreens, and as touchscreens become more common (e.g. I just upgraded my laptop to one that has a touchscreen), having this enabled quickly becomes quite important for a large number of users. Also, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1182700 was just fixed in Kwin, and AFAIK that was the last blocker of this bug. Also, AFAIK, Fedora enables MOZ_USE_XINPUT2 by default for these reasons, so apparently it's not too buggy :P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1697122 Title: Package Firefox with MOZ_USE_XINPUT2=1 in environment to enable pixel scrolling with touchpad and touch gestures Status in Mozilla Firefox: Confirmed Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu version: Kubuntu 17.04 Firefox version: 53.0.3+build1-0ubuntu0.17.04.2 In Firefox, two-finger scroll gestures on a touchpad are interpreted as scroll wheel rotations, and the content scrolls three lines at a time. I am unable to reproduce using the steps in https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=750994#c0 with my laptop's touchpad, tested on Gnome Shell 3.36 (Ubuntu 20.04). I tried the same steps with FF and also can not reproduce it there. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 681567] Re: [regression] With slow mice, opening a right-click context menu immediately executes the first entry
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 410636 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410636 Still happening in an up-to-date Precise install. I don't think this is a duplicate of #410636. Fixing that bug will act as a workaround for this one, but it looks to me the real issue here is the click and release event being processed as separate actions. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/681567 Title: [regression] With slow mice, opening a right-click context menu immediately executes the first entry Status in “gtk+2.0” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Repro steps: 1. Connect a mouse whose button press/release events arrive slowly. 2. Open any gtk app. (For example, gedit or gcalctool.) 3. Right-click somewhere to open a context menu whose first item is selectable. (For example, in gedit just type something and then right-click on the text area--the first item will be Undo and will be selectable. In gcalctool, type in a number, highlight it, and then right-click on the number--the first item will be Cut and will be selectable.) What I expect to happen: A context menu should appear and wait for the user to make a selection. What happens instead: A context menu appears and disappears and the app immediately executes the first entry without any further clicks. The user doesn't even have enough time to see what has happened. Obviously this is disorientating and annoying. This is a regression--it used to work fine. I think it started after the update to Maverick. I believe the problem only occurs with mice that have a large delay between the button press event and the button release event. The built-in trackpad and buttons in my laptop do NOT trigger the problem, but my external mouse does. (The external mouse came with my Wacom Bamboo CTE-450 tablet.) From looking at the timestamps in the xev tool, it appears that the external mouse has a much longer delay between the two events than the internal mouse (xev output is attached). The problem can be avoided in two ways, but neither is convenient: 1) By holding down the right mouse button, moving the mouse over the desired context menu entry, and then releasing the right mouse button. 2) By moving the mouse left and/or up while clicking, so that the mouse button is released quickly but at a different location on screen that is not over the context menu. Note that slowly moving the mouse to another area of the screen and releasing does NOT work because gtk dismisses the context menu if the button was held down for a certain amount of time before releasing. The problem only occurs in native gtk apps. Other apps such as Firefox and OpenOffice are not affected. To solve the problem, I recommend the following: 1) Create the context menu down-and-right of the mouse pointer, so that the mouse pointer is not over the first item when the right mouse button is released. AND 2) Increase the delay before treating a button release as a distinct event. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 945157] Re: sometimes it miss the menus
This bug affects me. I noticed this since upgraded to precise around in the first beta. I have every package up-to-date and I am still experiencing the issue. When this happens the bookmarks in nautilus quicklist don't work. After killing nautilus and starting it again, everything works just fine. I wouldn't be sure if this is really a bug, though. Since upgrade I noticed lots of weirdness in my install: sometimes X just crashes with sig 11, vlc losses audio after pausing or seeking on any video, pulseaudio is flakier than usual - it just decides to restart, transmission-gtk refuses to let me change the download directory (not a bug in transmission, but an unexpected event from gtk - #915165). I'm planning to ditch this install one of these days, maybe it is too much two years worth upgrades. I didn't do it yet because I wanted to find the culprit of all these errors that I can't find reported as bugs. I have attached .xsession-errors. If there is something else I can get from my install to help, please let me know. ** Attachment added: .xsession-errors https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/945157/+attachment/3154040/+files/.xsession-errors -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945157 Title: sometimes it miss the menus Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Hello Sometimes Nautilus miss his menus, totally random and happens one time at day.
