In order to reproduce it execute "xdg-open *.desktop" (choose any

favorite text editor will open the file. Expected result: It'll be
  executed.

Because of this bug, desktop entries with the new "#!/usr/bin/env xdg-

[snap] StartupWMClass missing in .desktop file

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Chromium Snap Version 64.0.3282.167

  How to reproduce:

  In Gnome:

Add the Chromium Snap to the left launcher panel.
  Start the Chromium Snap.

  Actual behavior:
The Chromium snap starts and creates a new symbol in the launcher panel.

  Desired behavior:
The Chromium snap should start using the symbol which is already pinned to
the launcher panel.

  In Budgie:

The Chromium Snap cannot be pinned to the panel at all.

  Possible solution:

Add StartupWMClass= ... to the .desktop launcher of the chromium snap.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1623666] Re: iOS device contents not displayed in Ubuntu

2017-06-17 Thread Fawad Raza
#27 on Unbuntu 16.04 doesn't work anymore, gives same "package not met"
error:

configure: error: Package requirements (libusbmuxd >= 1.0.9) were not met:
No package 'libusbmuxd' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed
software in a non-standard prefix.
Alternatively, you may set the environment variables libusbmuxd_CFLAGS and
libusbmuxd_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.

*This discussion is quite vague. One comment points out "iOS 10

how or if that has been fixed in libimobiledevice git HEAD.

This ppa packages the git version and may resolve the issue:

https://launchpad.net/~martin-salbaba/+archive/ubuntu/ppa+libimobiledevice/+packages

There are several other upstream reports related to this problem.

Partial success patch (idevicepair only) trying to keep GnuTLS:
  https://github.com/libimobiledevice/libimobiledevice/issues/413

Failure with GnuTLS, Success with OpenSSL:
  https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/issues/145

  Ubuntu packages libimobiledevice with "--disable-openssl":
  https://github.com/libimobiledevice/ifuse/issues/32

Duplicate bug 1638177 suggests to repackage libimobiledevice using
OpenSSL to avoid this problem, as per comment 27 below.
