[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1986444] Re: network-manager fails to detect usb internet adapter
I followed some suggestions: https://askubuntu.com/questions/906636/ethernet-adapter-was-disable-on-ubuntu-17-04/909185#909185 to fix the problem. Specifically, I edited the file: /usr/lib/NetworkManager/conf.d/10-globally-managed-devices.conf and changed the line unmanaged-devices=*,except:type:wifi,except:type:gsm,except:type:cdma to unmanaged-devices=*,except:type:ethernet,except:type:wifi,except:type:gsm,except:type:cdma I also followed the suggestion: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1039233/no-wired-connection-wired-unmanaged-ubuntu-18-04/1043244#1043244 and edited the file: /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf and changed the line managed=false to managed=true After sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager and a reboot the problem seems to be fixed. Incidentally, there were quite a few problems with the upgrade, and I had to reinstall the Ubuntu Desktop to fix some of these. I do not know if the NetworkManager files were changed or deleted when I did this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to network-manager in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1986444 Title: network-manager fails to detect usb internet adapter Status in network-manager package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 from 20.04 several days ago, my ugreen network adapter is not detected even though the lights between the ethernet cable and the adapter are on. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1849055] Re: gnome-extensions fails to load after boot
The extensions do load when I enable them.?? The problem is that after a reboot they are not enabled and I need to do it by hand. This does not happen after every reboot but occurs often enough when I start up the computer that it's annoying. What happens: * In Ubuntu 10.10 and earlier, "An error occurred" - "Could not read from resource." * In Ubuntu 11.10, "An error occurred" - "Could not read DVD. This may be because the DVD is encrypted and a DVD decryption library is not installed." Without libdvdcss2, Totem, VLC, and others are unable to play my original DVD-s. I know it's illegal to ship Ubuntu with libdvdcss2, but it could be in multiverse repos, and totem's plugin installer could install it, OR add the medibuntu repo to the list (but leave unchecked), then Totem's plugin installer should give a hint, to use that repo's libdvdcss2 to play your DVDs. Newbies wont find out how to solve this problem by theirself, go back to win, and then it will be harder to solve the bug #1 :) Not to be confused with: * bug 502426, where DVDs don't play when libdvdcss is installed * bug 745515, "An error occured location not found" while trying to play a DVD * bug 747433, "Totem cannot play this type of media DVD because it does not have the appropriate plugins to be able to read from this disc" - Desired solution: When a user tries to play a dvd, a dialogue should pop up displaying the following message: "The DVD you have inserted cann't currently be played because the supporting software has not been installed. This is because it is not legal for Ubuntu to distribute this software in some countries. If you are certain that it is legal for you to install this software in your country, you can install it now. Would you like to install it now?
