[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor
Today, I can confirm this issue is not only related to two graphic cards. It also happens with only one graphic card. I am using a laptop with built-in graphic card and intel driver. I disabled the built-in LVDS1 monitor and then only enable TWO monitors: VGA and HDMI. My laptop graphic card has both VGA and HDMI outputs. VGA is the default monitor and the mouse is flickering in the VGA monitor, not in the HDMI monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1278223 Title: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xorg package in Fedora: Unknown Bug description: My issues is, after adding a 3rd monitor to Ubuntu 14.04, the mouse flickers (or blinks) when the cursor is on monitors one or two, but not 3. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor
Same here. Any updates or workarounds? None of the above workarounds works. The number of monitors does not matter. I have only two monitors active. The problem still exist. It's about the UGA and two graphic cards. For me, browser activities will trigger the mouse cursor flickering problem. And yeah, the flickering only happens in the monitor connected with built-in graphic card, NOT in the monitor connected with UGA. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1297090] [NEW] nvidia-settings can not detect any real displays/monitors (trusty) (Optimus Laptop)
Public bug reported: OS: Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 Trusty (latest upgrade) Hardware: Asus U36JC Graphic Driver: nvidia-331 I have opened a bug #1296020 (Non-existent display detected in both intel driver and nvidia driver). Except the non-existent display issue, nvidia-settings can not detect any real displays. The only display/monitor it can detect is the non-existent one. I think this should be a different bug for nvidia-331. For xrandr -q output, please refer to bug #1296020. nvidia-settings becomes useless now, it can not detect the built-in display and it can not detect any new external display. It can only detect the non-existent CRT-0 (VGA-0). Gnome control center -- Display can detect all displays. (but it fails to rotate external VGA display. not sure if this is another bug or not). I will attach two screenshots for nvidia-settings and gnome-control- center -- display. Public bug reported: There is a non existent display detected in both intel driver only and nvidia 331 driver installation. The non existent display is Unknown Display shown in gnome-control-center -- display and CRT-0 in nvidia-settings, and VGA-0 in xrandr -q output. I can NOT use gdm and gnome-shell at all because of this bug. gdm failed to start because of this. gnome-shell shows a black (off) screen. I haven't tried unity yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1278054 Title: [13.10] Ubuntu detects a non-existing screen Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This issue is the same as bug #1244827 but I was requested to open a new bug because I have different hardware. same problem here. Latest lubuntu amd64. This problem not only happens in firefox. Many apps have the same problem. For example, google-chrome will give segmentation fault. In lubuntu, right click desktop pager and then left click Desktop Pager Settings will give the same segmentation fault. Workaround: everything works with 'sudo'. For example: 'sudo firefox' works. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1278062] Re: firefox crashes on startup (but apparently layunched properly to enable me to post this)
1, chromium-browser is different from google-chrome. In my environment, google-chrome gets the same segmentation fault. chromium-browser works. 2, this is not about themes. I tried different themes. Programs always segfault. Those theme warning messages are harmless. 3, Running GUI apps with sudo is bad. BUT this just gives some peope and devs some ideas. I think this may help devs to fix the bug. Because sudo GUI apps will always work without segmentation fault. This is weird. Do anyone know why this happens ? Are any developers aware of this critical problem? Trusty 14.04 will be released within 2 months. And now, even built-in firefox and google-chrome can not be run. This is amazing. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1278062 Title: firefox crashes on startup (but apparently layunched properly to enable me to post this) Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I tried launching from a terminal window after the first crash and got this: ~$ firefox (process:2974): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed Segmentation fault (core dumped) ~$ ~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu Trusty Tahr (development branch) Release: 14.04 ~$ apt-cache policy firefox firefox: Installed: 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.10.1 Candidate: 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.10.1 Version table: *** 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.10.1 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ~$ ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: firefox 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.10.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-8.27-generic 3.13.2 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-8-generic x86_64 AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.13.2-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: a 1919 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20131028112446 CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'iw' Channel: Unavailable CrashCounter: 1 CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Sun Feb 9 05:43:26 2014 ExecutablePath: /usr/lib/firefox/firefox ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-11-22 (78 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 14.04 Trusty Tahr - Alpha amd64 (20131102) IpRoute: default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlan0 proto static 192.168.0.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.101 metric 9 MostRecentCrashID: bp-3359569a-fc3a-40e2-978d-e68d72120711 PrefSources: prefs.js [Profile]/extensions/{3d7eb24f-2740-49df-8937-200b1cc08f8a}/defaults/preferences/flashblock.js [Profile]/extensions/{0545b830-f0aa-4d7e-8820-50a4629a56fe}/defaults/preferences/defaults.js ProcCmdline: /usr/lib/firefox/firefox Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=25.0/20131028112446 RelatedPackageVersions: gecko-mediaplayer 1.0.8-4ubuntu1 RfKill: 0: phy0: Wireless LAN Soft blocked: no Hard blocked: no RunningIncompatibleAddons: False SegvAnalysis: Skipped: missing required field Disassembly Signal: 11 SourcePackage: firefox SubmittedCrashIDs: bp-3359569a-fc3a-40e2-978d-e68d72120711 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo dmi.bios.date: 02/17/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 5.12 dmi.board.name: NutMeg dmi.board.vendor: PEGATRON CORPORATION dmi.board.version: 1.02 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr5.12:bd02/17/2009:svnHP-Pavilion:pnFQ578AAR-ABAs3707c:pvr:rvnPEGATRONCORPORATION:rnNutMeg:rvr1.02:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: FQ578AAR-ABA s3707c dmi.sys.vendor: HP-Pavilion To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1278062/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

In fact, it prevents from selecting tabs easily (need to move 1 or 2 pixels down to select the tab), and it's the same for the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top right corner. $ dpkg --list | grep chromium ii chromium-browser 30.0.1599.114-0ubuntu0.12.04.3 Chromium browser ii chromium-browser-l10n 30.0.1599.114-0ubuntu0.12.04.3 chromium-browser language packages ii chromium-codecs-ffmpeg 30.0.1599.114-0ubuntu0.12.04.3 Free ffmpeg codecs for the Chromium Browser $ lsb_release -rd Description: Linux Mint 13 Maya Release: 13 Chromium 30.0.1599.114 (Developer Build 30.0.1599.114-0ubuntu0.12.04.3) Built on Ubuntu 12.04, running on LinuxMint 13 OSLinux Blink 537.36 (@159105) JavaScriptV8 3.20.17.15 Flash 11.2 r202 User AgentMozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Ubuntu Chromium/30.0.1599.114 Chrome/30.0.1599.114 Safari/537.36 Command Line /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser --disable-new-tab-first-run --enable-user-scripts --no-startup-window --flag-switches-begin --flag-switches-end Executable Path /usr/lib/chromium-browser/chromium-browser Profile Path /home//.config/chromium/Default Variationsb03ddc1f-2d9ef0cc f9b252d0-fd526c81 262f996f-eeefeb17 24dca50e-455c9cca ca65a9fe-91ac3782 246fb659-75cb33fc f296190c-b52e3392 4442aae2-e1cc0f14 ed1d377-e1cc0f14 75f0f0a0-a5822863 e2b18481-bd104136 e7e71889-e1cc0f14 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1252672/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
