[Desktop-packages] [Bug 502642] Re: .ts files always get recognized as application/x-linguist and never as video/mp2t (mpeg transport stream)
for the record; ubuntu 16.04 LTS shows ".ts2" binary files as "text/vnd.trolltech.linguist" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to shared-mime-info in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502642 Title: .ts files always get recognized as application/x-linguist and never as video/mp2t (mpeg transport stream) Status in shared-mime-info: Fix Released Status in shared-mime-info package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in Baltix: New Bug description: Binary package hint: shared-mime-info I checked Hardy, Jaunty and Karmic: *.ts files are always mapped to application/x-linguist by /usr/share/mime/packages/freedesktop.org.xml. But there are several Linux-based settop boxes that record videos in *.ts-files. So if application/x-linguist is obsolete then it should simply be replaced by video/mpeg. Otherwise the mime framework has to distinguish such files by inspecting their headers. If someone knows more about x-linguist files, please add a comment! The problem has already been reported upstream two month ago (see freedesktop.org above). But for 10.04 LTS we should fix it by a patch, if it is not fixed upstream by then. As a workaround copy the attached file to ~/.local/share/mime/packages/mpeg-ts.xml and update your mime-database with: $ update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime To trigger the regeneration of failed thumbnails just delete them: $ rm ~/.thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory/*.png ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Jan 3 17:47:29 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) Package: shared-mime-info 0.70-0ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=de_CH.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-16.53-generic SourcePackage: shared-mime-info Uname: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic i686 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/shared-mime-info/+bug/502642/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1232873] Re: "could not back up files" dialog never shown; breaks scheduled backups
same here. ubuntu mate 15.10 waste of time. i even had to check system monitor to find out this was called "Déjà Dup" to be able to report this bug, but 3 years down the line still being put in new systems, probably this is just more waste of my time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to deja-dup in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1232873 Title: "could not back up files" dialog never shown; breaks scheduled backups Status in Déjà Dup: Confirmed Status in deja-dup package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in deja-dup package in Arch Linux: New Bug description: On the conclusion of a backup, if any nonreadable files exist in the backup source directories, Deja Dup shows a notification at the bottom of my screen telling me that the backup completed but not all files were able to be backed up; "see dialog for details". However, this dialog never appears. As a result, the "deja-dup --backup --auto" process never terminates, as it's waiting for me to close a dialog that never appeared in the first place. This effectively breaks the automatic, "set-and-forget" backup strategy, as deja-dup-monitor will not launch another scheduled backup until the deja-dup process exits, which will never happen. This only happens when deja-dup is launched with "deja-dup --backup --auto"; launching with "deja-dup --backup" (no auto) does show the dialog at the end of the process, allowing me to close it and properly terminate the backup. ~$ lsb_release -d Description: Ubuntu Saucy Salamander (development branch) ~$ dpkg-query -W deja-dup duplicity deja-dup 27.3.1-0ubuntu1 duplicity 0.6.21-0ubuntu4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/deja-dup/+bug/1232873/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Desktop-packages] [Bug 424888] Re: Brasero produces .toc files containing absolute paths when
reopening bug, because it effects me and has been incorrectly closed, the description above is actually explicit and accurate. absolute paths are just a mistake. also the error messages and error log are unhelpful, problem deduced from examining the toc file in an editor. ** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/424888 Title: Brasero produces .toc files containing absolute paths when Status in “brasero” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Binary package hint: brasero When producing an image with brasero, two files (brasero.toc and brasero.toc.bin) are created. brasero.toc contains absolute filenames. When you move the files to another location and try to burn them, brasero fails (I use a german localization, the error message is brasero.toc kann nicht gefunden werden., which would translate as brasero.toc cannot be found). Expected behaviour would have been that brasero is able to use the files even if I move them to another directory, or at least a warning that the files can only be used from the place where they are created. frank@ubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 9.04 Release: 9.04 frank@ubuntu:~$ apt-cache policy brasero brasero: Installiert: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 Kandidat: 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 Versions-Tabelle: *** 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 ftp://ftp.rrzn.uni-hannover.de jaunty-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.26.0-0ubuntu3 0 500 ftp://ftp.rrzn.uni-hannover.de jaunty/main Packages frank@ubuntu:~$ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/424888/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
