[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1006824] Re: Default internet search engine is Microsoft's Bing
This is also the case if you use the search bar within Thunderbird - it offers to search within your messages but also on Bing. I guess they got a bag of cash from MSFT? I can't find anywhere to change it in the preferences. I tried poking around in the Config editor; there were two strings referring to default search engine that I tried setting to Google. But there must be somewhere else that isn't accessible where the search engine is defined, since it doesn't offer Google as an option. (On the plus side, however, it now skips over Option 1 (Google) since it doesn't know what to do with it, and goes to Option 2, which is Yahoo. So at least Bing is gone.) I searched for any other strings involving Bing and couldn't find any, so I don't know where the URL for Bing is defined. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1006824 Title: Default internet search engine is Microsoft's Bing Status in “thunderbird” package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: How to reproduce the bug : - go into a message and select a word with mouse. - Right click on the selected word and choose to make a search on internet/web ( I don' know the right entry . i'm french ) - Contemplate bing search engine !
