I'm on 13.04 on a Nexus7 too and I really would love to find a way to apply these patches, even manually. Is someone willing to point me to the right direction? In ubuntu 14.04 everything seems to be normal. But when i tried kubuntu 14.04 there was a big similar to this. I can tap the screen but there is no click event. Also some of the windows are "running away" if you're clicking on them. (similar button-stuck behaviour on suse (especially when I tried toucegg (in terminal there was one key repeated constantly))). I gave up and simply upgraded to saucy. Hi again, After some investigation, I found that the compiz segfault was due to an undefined symbol: compiz (core) - Debug: dlopen failed: /usr/lib/compiz/libunityshell.so: undefined symbol: XFixesSelectBarrierInput I downgraded libxfixes3 to 1:5.0-4ubuntu5.13.04.1 and was able to start Unity properly... I got this bug on my laptop running 13.04 (BTW I think bug #946417 is a duplicate of this one). It causes the touchscreen to not work after several clicks. I tried running the X from x-staging PPA (add-apt-repository ...; apt- get update; apt-get dist-upgrade; service lightdm restart). After I login, the screen shows a background for some seconds and then a blank screen. ~/.xsession-errors shows these lines: [several lines about loading/starting plugins...] compiz (core) - Info: Loading plugin: unityshell gnome-session[2238]: WARNING: Child process 2352 was already dead. gnome-session[2238]: WARNING: Application 'compiz.desktop' killed by signal 11 gnome-session[2238]: WARNING: App 'compiz.desktop' respawning too quickly gnome-session[2238]: CRITICAL: We failed, but the fail whale is dead. Patola, I do not really know about the internals of touch, I am working on the printing part of Linux. As I bought a laptop with touch screen recently, I wanted to get it to work and started discussing the problem with Maarten Lankhorst (mlankhorst), the maintainer of the xorg-xserver source package, on IRC and he gave me some hints, including updating to 1.14 and applying a huge patch, but before doing this I followed some less invasive hints from him, and this made the simple touch left click reliably working (my package from comment #71, comment #74, comment #77, and comment #92). Yes, I can reproduce this, using the right-click emulator of onboard makes the touch clicking fail. Probably I did not see this earlier as I rarely use the right click. Seems that my suggested patch is only a partial fix. I used onboard's click helper to make a right click with the touchscreen. I have built xorg-server with my patch also on the Nexus7 now and it works perfectly there with the desktop and all applications, too, and on the Nexu7 XBMC and Chromium's web apps work with touch. I have partial (full?) success: I have rebuilt the current Raring package of xorg-server (1.13.3-0ubuntu5) with the following two patches: 1. http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~whot/xserver/commit/?h=touch-grab-race- condition-56578-v2&id=0498a4f0e0b90a850df7022a3356f10adabff855 (found via https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56578#c17) 2. http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-devel/2013-April/035878.html and after that clicking via touch screen on the Lenovo Thinkpad Twist works reliably. Only remaining problems are (but the touch click ability does not get lost by them): a. In Chromium when you create a new tab, the new tab contains icons for web apps (at least the app store and perhaps some examples). These icons cannot be clicked by touch, only with a mouse. All the rest in Chromium is clickable by touch. b. Touch clicks do not work in XBMC, but after using and leaving XBMC with an external mouse on the normal desktop touch-clicking works again. These are probably separate bugs which got revealed by the now working touch click.
