Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Hi,

It seems that the smb URI written by the system-config-printer UI in
/etc/cups/printers.conf is:
  smb://:@//
as a working one for CUPS (is the bug there?) is:
  smb://%5C:@/
  (%5C = \)

I have found an old remark [1] about this trouble related to version

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1085362] Re: trouble on smb URI with domain authentication

2018-10-02 Thread gf
Hello Patrice,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with the
system-config-printer package. You made this bug report in 2012 and Ubuntu and
the system-config-printer package have been updated since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
If it is still a problem, are you still interested in finding a solution to
this bug?
If you are, could you let us know and, in the current version, could you run
the following (only once):
apport-collect 1085362
and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1085362] Re: trouble on smb URI with domain authentication

2012-12-11 Thread Patrice DUROUX
Hi, thanks for you remarks. But how can I help to go further?
Currently I didn't got any working smbspool command line after many tries.
It shows "DEBUG: Connected with username/password..." and then it "waits".
Is cups switching to another backend (may be smbclient) when the
smbspool one does not answer to it? As I still have no clue to explain
why my second URI schema is working while the first (smbspool one)
is not.
Regards

2012-12-03 Thread Tim Waugh
The smbspool man page says the correct forms are:

 · smb://server[:port]/printer

 · smb://workgroup/server[:port]/printer

 · smb://username:password@server[:port]/printer

 · smb://username:password@workgroup/server[:port]/printer
