The issue is that the hardware is unable to query the EDID on the first
monitor - you will need to specify the limits and possibly the modelines
of that monitor manually for it to work properly.

Bug description:
  I only get 1024 x  768 resolution but my graphics chip (Intel 82945g)
  and my display monitor are capable of displaying greater than 1600 x
  900 resolution.

  Please help me identify the problem and install the correct drivers so
  i could get higher resolution than 1024 x 768.  Thanks

Dear Sir,

Forgive me for the trouble I gave you on this issue. I solved the problem by 
changing the display monitor and now I get the maximum resolution (1440 x 900) 
the new monitor can provide. I don't know why my previous (Spectre) monitor was 
not recognized although it had higher specs.
