I've tried compiling 0.17.5 myself, but it doesn't seem to correct the problem. I am not entirely sure that I installed it correctly, though, is there a way to check that empathy is using the correct telepaty-gabble version? I've downloaded the 0.17.5 release from here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/telepathy/telepathy-gabble To compile I've done $ cd /path/to/extracted/src/ $ ./configure $ make $ sudo make install other info: $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. It appears upgrading to telepathy-gabble 0.17.5 has fixed the problem for me.
