[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1287160] Re: Menu is located in gear icon at the upper right corner but not in the menu bar

2014-03-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report. What Ubuntu/evince version do you use?

evince is supposed to have a traditional menu since that update
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/3.10.3-0ubuntu3

Which is working fine here (and for others from the feedback we
received)

** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu)

Title:
Menu is located in gear icon at the upper right corner but not in the
  menu bar

Status in “evince” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Unlike all other applications in Ubuntu, which put their menu into the
top panel of unity, the document viewer keeps its menu in the little
gear icon at the upper right corner. Unity's panel still has a menu
when the document viewer is focused, but that basically doesn't hold
  any entries at all.

The non-tech people I'm supporting with their Ubuntu machines are
struggling with this a lot. For example they constantly fail to find
how to print the viewed PDF file, just searching the menu bar for a
  print entry.

2014-03-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
we discussed it on IRC, the issue is resolved in trusty for the LTS, we
don't plan to backport those changes to 13.10 though, it involves new
string and would lead to untranslated UIs, it's also quite some changes
and would have potential to create issues in the stable serie
