Ah dammit! Linux Mint 17 has file-roller 3.6.3 pinned, and due to the higher priority of the Mint repo you don't get the upstream version which is newer (3.10.2.1). The older file-roller 3.6.3 has no proper support for unrar 5.0, and this is the cause of this bug.
