If you chose the text and do convert to text, the text completely changes its positioning. For example, I have a text centered to a certain area, and it moves to the left to an apparently random position. Also, if you have decided to keep the flowed text feature, it makes NO SENSE to keep it in its current broken status which corresponds to an obsolete version of the specs until the SVG 1.2 draft becomes final. You should fix the implementation to conform to the current status of the standard. How is one supposed to achieve centering text into a given area without flowed text? Even if you fix the conversion of flowed to regular text, that wouldn't be enough because if one edits the text he will need to recenter it manually.
