I see that the default greeter in Ubuntu Studio is lightdm-gtk-greeter, and the indicator at the top right of the screen shows the display language for the session you are about to enter, not the keyboard layout. I'm adding lightdm as a source, but I dont' really know which package is causing this. We had a similar problem before. Maybe it is the same one.
