[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1593916] Re: Firefox froze; window came up saying [current window] "not responding"; selected close window - all FF windows vanished.
Thanks for your feedback. Closing by marking "Invalid" as the bug was never confirmed. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1593916 Title: Firefox froze; window came up saying [current window] "not responding"; selected close window - all FF windows vanished. Status in firefox package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: Haven't had a crash/freeze in quite a while. For a while, I couldn't use FF versions over 28, as they would never completely load my windows/tabs, and then crashed. At some point, I switched from using AdblockPlus to uBlock Origen, and all was good. Lately, the tabs seem a bit ... loosely attached? ... I usually open up a link on a new tab, and then click on it to select it, but often lately I apparently move the mouse a bit when I do, and suddenly the tab tears off onto a new window instead. I had just done that, and had attempted to use my scroll-wheel to move down on the page, which didn't do anything. I tried the scroll-bar - nothing. I tried to close the window - nothing. A window came up saying that the window was not responding, and did I want to terminate that process. That specific window title was mentioned, so I assumed that just that window would go away, but when I clicked on (End Process? / Close Window? - I forget the wording...), all 12 FF windows vanished. Hopefully something in the supporting documentation will be helpful, as "Firefox Froze" cannot be considered terribly useful... --- scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ uname -a Linux scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus 4.4.0-24-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 8 19:25:16 UTC 2016 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 16.04 LTS xenial scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu s ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: firefox 47.0+build3-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-24.43-generic 4.4.10 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-24-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: scott 1688 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC2: scott 1688 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: scott 1688 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20160606113900 Channel: Unavailable CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Sat Jun 18 00:38:38 2016 DefaultProfileIncompatibleExtensions: English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} DefaultProfilePlugins: Shockwave Flash - /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so DefaultProfilePrefSources: prefs.js ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-05-05 (44 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release i386 (20160420.1) IpRoute: default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlx001f1fd8314a 192.168.0.0/24 dev wlx001f1fd8314a proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.2 MostRecentCrashID: bp-33012966-2403-4ed0-a9f0-e94f02160519 PciNetwork: Profile1IncompatibleExtensions: Global Menu Bar integration - globalm...@ubuntu.com English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Profile1PrefSources: prefs.js Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=47.0/20160606113900 Profile1 - LastVersion=28.0/20140410211157 (Out of date) RfKill: RunningIncompatibleAddons: True SourcePackage: firefox SubmittedCrashIDs: bp-33012966-2403-4ed0-a9f0-e94f02160519 bp-649eea70-f030-4f17-857b-f9eeb2160510 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 06/10/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1802 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: M2N68-AM Plus dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: Rev X.0x dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1802:bd06/10/2010:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rnM2N68-AMPlus:rvrRevX.0x:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: System Product Name dmi.product.version: System Version dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer To manage

I don't believe that I have noticed this for a while, so I guess it can be closed. If it recurs, I will re-file with a new bug. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once: apport-collect 1593916 and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. ** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to firefox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1593916 Title: Firefox froze; window came up saying [current window] "not responding"; selected close window - all FF windows vanished.
