Title:
Gnome Control Panel does not detect Bluetooth USB adapter

Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I plugged in a working Bluetooth USB adpater, and the Bluetooth
section of the Gnome Control Panel does not detect it. It continues to
say "Plug in a dongle to use Bluetooth." I've tried other USB ports
(this computer is new within the last 2 months), but none detect the
adapter. It's a Sabrent USB adapter, found here:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EAAAJWU/ref=pe_385040_30332190_TE_3p_M3T1_ST1_dp_1

I'm not sure if I need some additional drivers or not.

  Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
  Release 16.04

  gnome-control-center:
Installed: 1:3.18.2-1ubuntu6
Candidate: 1:3.18.2-1ubuntu6
Version table:
   *** 1:3.18.2-1ubuntu6 500
  500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
  100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I expected the Bluetooth adapter to allow Bluetooth to be turned on
after it was plugged in. I tried rebooting the machine with the
adapter plugged in and that didn't work either. Instead, nothing
  happened.

Here is a similar, if not the same, issue reported on RedHat:

  Additional package information:

  bluez:
Installed: 5.37-0ubuntu5

Thank you for your bug report. Do you still have the issue in newer
Ubuntu version? what's the output of the bluetoothctl command?
