Recent Thunderbird releases now display 'Preferences' in a main window tab which greatly increases the space available to display text boxes and buttons. It's now an issue here with both Ubuntu 18.04 and Xubuntu 18.04 although different amount of text not visible. Seems fine using Xubuntu 17.10 so may be a problem with the theme rather than with Thunderbird. Sam, please advise which version/flavour of Ubuntu you are using.
