[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1770473] Re: Don't hardcode Ubuntu font name in Settings > Details
It's minor and doesn't need to be actively targetted and didn't move since mai, wontfixing for now for bionic but feel free to upload/change the status if you are still interested ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu Bionic) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770473 Title: Don't hardcode Ubuntu font name in Settings > Details Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-control-center source package in Bionic: Won't Fix Bug description: Impact -- On the About screen found in Settings > Details, the distro name and version (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) is hard-coded to use the Ubuntu font. While the rest of the distro-logo.patch (or ubuntu-gnome- version.patch) has a reasonable chance of being applied upstream, that tweak would need to be a permanent Ubuntu patch. The Ubuntu patch causes an issue for derivatives that are not Ubuntu like System76's Pop!_OS. They could remove or modify the Ubuntu patch, but it might be nicer to derivatives if they didn't need to do that. Test Case - 1. From Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, open the Activities Overview. 2. Enter About and open the Settings > About screen. Does the Ubuntu version number look ok? 3. Install GNOME Tweaks 4. Open GNOME Tweaks. Switch to the Fonts page and change the interface font to a recognizable font. 5. Look at the Settings > About window. Does the Ubuntu version number use that font? Regression Potential Users that use custom fonts won't have the Ubuntu font represent the Ubuntu version number. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1770473] Re: Don't hardcode Ubuntu font name in Settings > Details
This bug was fixed in the package gnome-control-center - 1:3.28.1-0ubuntu2 --- gnome-control-center (1:3.28.1-0ubuntu2) cosmic; urgency=medium * Rename ubuntu-gnome-version.patch to distro-logo.patch for proposed upstreaming to Debian. Drop the hardcoded use of the Ubuntu font. (LP: #1770473) * debian/control.in: - Drop now unnecessary fonts-ubuntu dependency - Don't recommend libnss-myhostname since systemd-resolved handles this functionality (LP: #1766575) - Demote network-manager-gnome dependency back to recommends (LP: #1770673) - Depend on system-config-printer instead of system-config-printer-common for the Additional Printer Settings button (LP: #1770695) * Add 0007-fix-open-last-page.patch: - Proposed patch fixes the "open last opened page" feature for Devices and Details pages (LP: #1770699) -- Jeremy Bicha Fri, 11 May 2018 12:59:17 -0400 ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770473 Title: Don't hardcode Ubuntu font name in Settings > Details Status in gnome-control-center package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Status in gnome-control-center source package in Bionic: Triaged Bug description: Impact -- On the About screen found in Settings > Details, the distro name and version (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS) is hard-coded to use the Ubuntu font.
