[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1801317] Re: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 20.04 LTS to 22.04.1 LTS. In 20.04 LTS this worked as expected, but no longer in 22.04.1 LTS. My screen resolution is 1366 x 768 (16:9). It does work when I disable or auto-hide the dock, but this is more of a workaround than a solution in my opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801317 Title: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with GNOME Shell. Nautilus does not want to occupy 50% (left or right) of the screen sized at 1366x768. See screencast - https://i.stack.imgur.com/ainWP.gif . Other applications (such as GNOME Terminal, Eye of GNOME, Gedit) are normally snapping to the left/right half of the screen. But Nautilus can be resized to the width lower than half of screen (I can get 650 px, which is smaller than 1366/2 = 683 px). The first usable screen resolution seems to be 1400x1050, then goes 1440x900. But large amount of [current devices](http://gs.statcounter.com/screen-resolution- stats/desktop/worldwide/#monthly-201709-201809-bar) are still using 1366x768. Upstream says that it is yours fault ( https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/411#note_380767 ): So please fix this for next 10 years of 18.04 LTS life. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1801317] Re: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen
Another stupid limitation from GNOME. Should be fixed as 1366x768 resolution is used very often. Writing from laptop with this resolution. If GNOME can't support then I'll remove GNOME. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801317 Title: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with GNOME Shell. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1801317] Re: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen
The issue seems similar to https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues/411 where upstream stated that the minimal width is 729 and more than half of the screen which is why it's can be set. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1801317 Title: Can't move/snap Nautilus window to occupy left or right half of the 1366x768 screen Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with GNOME Shell.
