[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1839687] Re: GDM displays black screen for a few seconds after resuming from suspend while using Nvidia proprietary drivers
gdm isn't involved in graphics directly so we can probably remove that here... ** No longer affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu) ** Summary changed: - GDM displays black screen for a few seconds after resuming from suspend while using Nvidia proprietary drivers + black screen for a few seconds after resuming from suspend while using Nvidia proprietary drivers ** Tags added: resume suspend-resume ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - black screen for a few seconds after resuming from suspend while using Nvidia proprietary drivers + Slow to resume from suspend (black screen) while using Nvidia proprietary drivers ** Tags added: performance ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-430 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1839687 Title: Slow to resume from suspend (black screen) while using Nvidia proprietary drivers Status in mutter package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-430 package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: What I expected to happen: GDM quickly appears after resuming What happened instead: A black screen appears and GDM is slow to show up After I suspend my laptop with Ubuntu 18.04.3 by closing it, GDM 3.28.3-0ubuntu18.04.4 takes several seconds to show up when I resume the computer. When the screen is black, only the cursor is visible. I'm using the Nvidia proprietary 430 drivers, but this issue already happened in version 390. If I use the Nvidia panel to switch to Intel graphics, GDM appears immediately after resuming.
