[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876882] Re: Backport packages for 18.04.5 HWE stack
> right, I think the default driver should still be i965 for the backport, as TGL support isn't a priority I agree that i965 should be the default driver. There is a bug in xf86-video-intel (xserver-xorg-video-intel). It leads to iris crashes when DRI2 and the intel DDX driver (instead of modesetting) are in use. https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/3673#issuecomment-656688063 Almost all current Linux distributions are affected (including Fedora Rawhide and openSUSE Tumbleweed). Basically, everything that uses xf86-video-intel (xserver-xorg-video-intel) older than 2 months (or without patch) is affected. https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/xorg-x11-drv-intel/blob/2501bf9ac2a756f333a6852309eb745e6b9d6861/f/xorg-x11-drv-intel.spec#_3 https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file/openSUSE:Factory/xf86-video-intel/xf86-video-intel.spec?rev=82 To fix it, please make sure that you have applied this patch: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-video-intel/-/commit/f2a54e256dd7539633c476a379db2b1e60eec811 Related issues in EL and Fedora: - EL7: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1854674 - EL8: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1856738 - FC32: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1854672 See also: https://github.com/widelands/widelands/issues/3937 https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/3673 https://gitlab.com/freedesktop-sdk/freedesktop-sdk/-/issues/1071 https://gitlab.com/freedesktop-sdk/freedesktop-sdk/-/merge_requests/2927#note_375652460 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/3188 ** Bug watch added: github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues #3673 https://github.com/flatpak/flatpak/issues/3673 ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1854674 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1854674 ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1856738 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1856738 ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #1854672 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1854672 ** Bug watch added: github.com/widelands/widelands/issues #3937 https://github.com/widelands/widelands/issues/3937 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.com/freedesktop-sdk/freedesktop-sdk/-/issues #1071 https://gitlab.com/freedesktop-sdk/freedesktop-sdk/-/issues/1071 ** Bug watch added: gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues #3188 https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/issues/3188 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876882 Title: Backport packages for 18.04.5 HWE stack Status in libclc package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in libdrm package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in llvm-toolchain-10 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xorg-server-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in libclc source package in Bionic: Invalid Status in libdrm source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in llvm-toolchain-10 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in mesa source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in xorg-server-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] These are needed for 18.04.5 images. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876882] Re: Backport packages for 18.04.5 HWE stack
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected, Accepted mesa into bionic-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/20.0.8-0ubuntu1~18.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed- bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification- failed-bionic. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping! N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days. ** Tags removed: verification-done verification-done-bionic ** Tags added: verification-needed verification-needed-bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1876882 Title: Backport packages for 18.04.5 HWE stack Status in libclc package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in libdrm package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in llvm-toolchain-10 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in mesa package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xorg-server-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati-hwe-18.04 package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in libclc source package in Bionic: Invalid Status in libdrm source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in llvm-toolchain-10 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in mesa source package in Bionic: Fix Committed Status in xorg-server-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Status in xserver-xorg-video-ati-hwe-18.04 source package in Bionic: Fix Released Bug description: [Impact] These are needed for 18.04.5 images. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1876882] Re: Backport packages for 18.04.5 HWE stack
Hello Mr. Aaltonen, Mr. Zemczak, Per the distro packaging guidelines for Intel/Iris [1], please add libepoxy 1.5.4-1 to the set of packages to backport to bionic in this set and build the xorg packages against it instead of the older libepoxy. This is to avoid a mixed i965+iris driver situation that is not recommended. Alternatively, mesa's debian/rules can be adjusted by adding `confflags_GALLIUM += -Dprefer-iris=false` immediately after `GALLIUM_DRIVERS += iris,` to avoid the dependency bump and retain i965 as the default OpenGL driver for all Intel hardware like previous mesa builds for 18.04.
