[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1949469] Re: gnome-shell is taking too much memory
Thanks for the bug report. Please start by uninstalling all your custom extensions. Don't just disable them because a really buggy extension can still leak when disabled. Then log in again and verify the problem is still occurring. If the problem is still occurring without extensions then while it is happening please run: ps auxw | grep gnome-shell > psoutput.txt and attach the resulting text file here. ** Tags added: gnome-shell-leak ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1949469 Title: gnome-shell is taking too much memory Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: gnome shell is taking too much memory even if i disable all gnome extensions, it still the case, for now i'm having only 4 extensions but still taking almost the half of my memory knowning that i have 16GB RAM ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 Package: gnome-shell 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 5.11.0-27.29~20.04.1-generic 5.11.22 Uname: Linux 5.11.0-27-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.18 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Nov 2 13:21:30 2021 DisplayManager: gdm3 InstallationDate: Installed on 2021-10-31 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS "Focal Fossa" - Release amd64 (20210819) RelatedPackageVersions: mutter-common 3.36.9-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 SourcePackage: gnome-shell UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1949469/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
