Title:
On-screen keyboard fails to appear on the unlock screen

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
I have upgrade from 21.10 to 22.04 Beta on my Microsoft Surface Go 2
tablet. I generally use it via the touch screen but I also have a type
  cover I can attach.

When you lock the tablet and then try to unlock it via the Gnome
unlock screen, tapping in the password box does bring up the keyboard
but any keys pressed do not appear in the password box.

All of the above can be worked around by attaching the Type Cover and
  using the physical keyboard.

If I an collect any diagnostic data for this please send me the
instructions and I'll see what I can do.

  Thanks

Sounds fairly similar but not exactly the same. Since we don't yet ship
that patch I can't prove that it's not the fix. Let's assume it is for
now...

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1967596] Re: On-screen keyboard fails to appear on the unlock screen

2022-04-28 Thread bpl
I confirm the bug and add it is impossible to click on accessibility menu to
activate on screen keyboard.
And I think the bug concern gnome-screensaver.

Also, when gnome ask password for a sudo command, in Ubuntu Software for
example, the on screen keyboard is unusable.

I am disabled and I can only use on screen keyboard with a mouse, I
usually use onboard which is a better virtual keyboard, but in lock
screen and some password window, gnome-osk is the only possible
solution.
