It is occurring intermittently still. I can confirm this on my Lenovo
ThinkPad X220 and a friend's desktop PC, both running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
It is reproducible, but since it occurs intermittently, it makes it
difficult to see. Go into Nautilus and try double-clicking items.
Adjusting the double-click timeout does not help.

Some times, double click on folder/files have no affect. Enter to
folder can only by opening context menu and select open.

This bug was in previous GNOME release (2.26), and still present in
2.27.4
