Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 477337 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Title:
(iwlagn) cannot connect to [NONE]
Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: network-manager
I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10 and my wireless connection stopped
working.
Disabling NetworkManager the connection works again.
My wifi connection is not protected but it filters MACs.
The problem is in the way NetworkManager uses wpa_supplicant.
I loaded iwlagn with debug=65535 and this is the output of
/var/log/syslog
Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.193582] wlan0: authenticate with AP

Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 wpa_supplicant[741]: No network configuration
found for the current AP
Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.218543] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_CHANGE):
wlan0: link becomes ready
Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 kernel: [ 36.218824] wlan0: disassociating by
local choice (reason=3)
Nov 6 20:42:49 Mobiligor4 wpa_supplicant[741]: CTRL-EVENT-DISCONNECTED -
Disconnect event - remove keys
I must add that I have a /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf with one network of
type WPA-PSK
It took some time to pin down the problem because
1) if the interface wlan0 was down and I configured the essid for wlan0
manually with iwconfig the essid was accepted (as it could be verified by
iwconfig) but the essid was lost as soon as I brought the interface up
2) if the interface wlan0 was up and I tried to configure its essid
with iwconfig wlan0 simply did not accept the essid and iwconfig
showed no essid assigned to wlan0.
