Title:
Networkmanager resets the hostname to localhost if there is a
  missing plugin

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: network-manager

My /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf file had a reference to a
missing plugin in its [plugins] section.
So I got an error about plugin missing in my /var/log/daemons.log
And because of this networkmanager resets my hostname to localhost

  WTF?

Networkmanager MUST NEVER EVEN TOUCH my hostname. It is simply NOT UP
TO NETWORKMANAGER to mess with my hostname. It's none of its business.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 486908] Re: Networkmanager resets the hostname to localhost if there is a missing plugin

2012-06-03 Thread Maarten Bezemer
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect 486908 and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.
