Nautilus rename mode is broken. When during rename you press delete button to
delete character or selected few characters the file (or folder) you are
trying to rename is deleted instead. So far, I've been able to find deleted
items in Trash and restore them.
When renaming with cut & paste or printing characters everything is fine.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 496789] Re: Nautilus rename mode is broken.

2011-11-18 Thread S.Rey
Following the procedure in this forum post, seems to solve the issue.
At least for me it does the trick. Del key works as expected (sending
file to trashcan) when a file is selected, but in rename mode it deletes
the text and not the file.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11075004&postcount=3

Any affected user can confirm this works?

I think it could be either a bad default config, or some unity
configuration conflicting whith gnome classic, as I'm quite sure I've
never modified accelerator keys.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 496789] Re: Nautilus rename mode is broken.

2011-11-18 Thread S.Rey
Gnome bug 607420 is now closed. Appatently they think the bug is ubuntu
specific. Can anyone review this again?
Ubuntu bug is marked as incomplete. What information is needed to advance on
this?

I'm using ubuntu 11.04 and this serious bug is still here. (I now this may be
fixed in 11.10, but this is the last gnome 2 iteration and not everybody are
willing to downgrade to Gnome 3)
In case it helps, I'm using a Laptop with spanish keyboard layout.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 496789] Re: Nautilus rename mode is broken.

2011-09-24 Thread S.Rey
I can reproduce this bug in Ubuntu 11.04, Nautilus 2.32.2.1, Classic
Gnome (with effects), default theme.

Steps to reproduce.

Open nautilus window.
Right click on a file, select Rename...
Click somewhere in the file folder name to edit.
Press DEL key to remove the character next to the cursor location.
Press enter.
A dialog stating the file can not be renamed appears. The file/folder
dissapears.
File can be restored from trash, provided it has not been flushed.

This is a serious bug that can produce loss of data.

Could this be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/61240 ?
