I appreciate the value of automatically scrolling to the tail of the log when a new entry is added. But doing so when the user is attempting to scroll back to read earlier entries is thwarting the user's use of the scroll bar. I suggest that if the user has scrolled back to view earlier entries in the log, gnome-system-log should suspend it's "scroll to tail when new entries added" behavior until the user has scrolled to the end of the log again.
