[Desktop-packages] [Bug 792622] Re: [Upstream] Cannot save as and export as pdf to samba shares using Libreoffice

2012-02-15 Thread Harm van Bakel
I've added some information to the following bug report (error when saving to
sftp mounts), which I believe to be related to the same underlying problem:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 792622] Re: [Upstream] Cannot save as and export as pdf to samba shares using Libreoffice

Alex King (ahex) wrote on 2011-06-08:#4
I have a customer getting this issue on their 11.04 laptop, saving to a Debian
Squeeze samba server. New documents created in Libreoffice won't save, but docs
opened , modified and saved back to the share do work. Other machines with
earlier OOo/ubuntu versions work OK

I still have this problem with saving to samba servers at work! It's very
annoying... When will this be fixed??

I run 11.10 on an (x64) laptop.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 792622] Re: [Upstream] Cannot save as and export as pdf to samba shares using Libreoffice

2012-02-08 Thread Oliver Joos
We use 10.04 LTS and 11.04 and really hope too that this bug will get
fixed - for all currently supported Ubuntu releases!

I confirm comment #10 that mounting the shares by cifs with nobrl does
work. Try this:

sudo apt-get install cifs-utils
sudo nano /media/your_server.credentials # and add the following 2 lines:

username=your_username_on_server
password=your_password_on_server

sudo chmod go-rwx /media/your_server.credentials
sudo mkdir -p /media/your_server/your_share
sudo nano /etc/fstab # and add all the following on ONE line:

//server_url/your_share  /media/your_server/your_share  cifs
ip=192.168.xxx.yyy,noexec,nounix,nobrl,uid=1000,gid=1000,file_mode=0644,dir_mode=0755,credentials=/media/your_server.credentials
0 0

I am not a cifs expert. So please leave a comment if your know better
options! I think ip=... can be left out if nslookup server_url works
in your LAN. Just make sure that you use nobrl - it's essential for
this workaround.

Hi,

I have a Windows 7 desktop PC where there is documents LibreOffice.
I have a laptop which is under Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits.

I'm able to connect the Windows computer through a wifi network. I open a
LibreOffice document to use it as a model.
I choose Save as to give a new name and create a new file in the same
directory but I get the following error message :

Erreur lors de l'enregistrement du document :
Erreur générale.
Erreur d'entrée/sortie générale.

So in english :

Error during the recording of the document :
General error.
General Input/Output error.

I precise that I have this trouble only with LibreOffice documents. The
Save as works perfectly with other type of file (txt, jpg, and so on).

Bye,
lool

On which computer do you have the problem. On the windows computer
saving to a samba file share exported from the Linux box ?, or on the
linux computer saving to a samba file shared exported from the Windows

Sorry for the lack of precision.
The problem is on the Linux laptop. In fact the shared directories are on the
Windows desktop computer, a kind of personal data base. And the most part of
the time I work with my laptop under Ubuntu that I used to access to the files
stored on the Windows computer.

Hello,
I observe the same bug on the network of my primary school where, exceptionnaly
this year I'm in charge of ICT teaching.

- 8 computers on Windows XP pro (one is the server)
- 5 on Ubuntu 11.04 updated

I have to acceed via : /user/.gvfs/directory shortcut on server.

I discovered this testing with Ooo4Kids which needs to search in upper
directory.

Precision :

Samba package, itself, is not installed on the four computers where I'm sure I
have the problem.
Only, basic packages, are loaded :
- Samba-common
- Samba-common-bin
- python-smbc
- smbclient
- libsmbclient

On the fifth PC with Ubuntu, I'm sure I have loaded the Samba package,
but I'm not sure I had this problem. I shall confirm that Monday.

Hello,

All computers I have in the ICT classroom are 32 bits.

Ok! I tested the computer with Samba package : it's the same thing.

On each, I've created :

- a network shortcut (connect to a server) in shortcuts menu (Ubuntu classic)
- a shortcut on the desktop for students.

( They open my originals then save as into there folder )
