Today, 8 years later :), I cannot say something new regarding this bug - I even don't have this camera any more. For me you can close this bug now and try to solve other more important bugs. I have the same problem with Ubuntu 12.04 and Canon EOS 7D. Browsing the camera file system often hangs Nautilus for some time. I have the same problem with my Canon EOS 550D. The thumbnail process of MOV files almost never ends making copying of files from the camera very slow (10kb/s). This bug is very critical - low priority is hard to understand to me.
