[Desktop-packages] [Bug 899638] Re: Sound settings missing many many options.
closing the bug, while requesting some options is fine we don't want to keep this dialog a simple mixer with the most common option, if some users need a better granularity or extra options they can install a fully featured mixer as well, note that the GNOME control uses pulseaudio and not alsa so exposing "alsa option" is not something to do there ** Changed in: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899638 Title: Sound settings missing many many options. Status in “gnome-control-center” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Bug description: I did a clean install of Ubuntu 11.10. I have onboard sound (some kind of intel one). Anyway, in the sound settings, it is missing an absolute ton of options that are available via alsamixer. For example, in alsamixer I can disabled "auto-mute" (mutes the rear output when you plug headphones into the front panel), but in the sound settings GUI there is no such option. Such a shame that we are still forced to do simple things like changing the sound settings on the command line in 2011. Re: [Desktop-packages] [Bug 899638] Re: Sound settings missing many many options.
I didn't focus on one option because it seems that there is a generic way that alsa drivers offer options to mixer control software. Alsamixer seems to have support for generic toggle and slider controls. None of those options are available in gnome, and they all should be really since you can't predict what new features sound card drivers will offer. Could you also focus the bug for a request for one option and open different bugs for different options? [Desktop-packages] [Bug 899638] Re: Sound settings missing many many options.
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the software by following the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Package changed: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) => gnome-control- center (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/899638 Title: Sound settings missing many many options.
