The only indication that it's installed is that I can see it in the extensions manager. This bug occurs on every machine I've tested over the last approximately two years. I experienced exactly the same problem on Ubuntu 11.10 (see below for details) and was very frustated. However, after a shutdown and restart, it worked fine. I can't test the reboot hypothesis at the moment since I'm traveling and don't have access to a second monitor. If that's the case, however, I don't think that setting the reboot flag is the proper solution, though it's better than nothing.
